Driver Nickname Trivia

How could I forget

Voodoo Child - Scott Bloomquist
Stan Stash Gregor (Plainville and Riverside days)
\Jiggs - I can see the car coming out of the fourth turn but am a loss to his name at this point.
Here is a few of them Mr Berti,

Tampa Tornado - Robbie Crouch
The Old Master - Frankie Schneider
SJ - SJ Evonsion
Cuban Missile - Aric Almirola
Loveable Les Alberti
Sandlake Slingshot - Kenny Tremont (loved to watch him race the Valley)
Captain Kirk Alexander
Nasty Neal Murray
S.J - Steve Evonsion
Yes, watching Kenny Tremont race at Lebanon Valley Speedway was like watching a surgeon at work. He was so methodical in the way he’d work his way up through a field. Before you know it he had the lead and off he went running away from the field. The Valley’s winningest driver with 96 wins and 12 track championships.

Good morn Mr Berti, Frass 118 and all

Yes Mr Berti it was Steve Evonsion. Used to love him watch the maroon coach #300 at the Park.

Here are a couple more before we head out to the races.

The Killer
Professor
Flyin’ Ryan (not Newman)
The Hammer
T Mac
EPJ
King
Rebel Ross
JP
T-Bone
Flyin Fire Chief from Haverhill.

Hope the rain stays away from all tracks tonight. You mentioned Showtime tonight with the Sprints. I’ll be heading (hopefully) to East bay for final chance to use my rain stubs from a couple of weeks back. East Bay Sprints, Fl Mini Sprints plus more. Should be a good show. Drive safe everyone.

Most responses were correct from my last list, with a few adjustments:

Black Jack I was looking for Jack Boggs
The Clown Prince… was looking for 2. Jabe Thomas was the other
The Rebel I was thinking was Frank “The Rebel” Mundy
Grandpa was USAC driver from the 60’s Don Branson
Rapid Roy from the Jim Croce song, was nascar driver Roy Tyner
The other Boom Boom was Florida racer Harold Cannon

The “Jiggs” you were looking for… was it Peters?

As for T-Mac, I know at least 2. Tim McCreadie and Terry McCarl
EPJ is Earl Pearson Jr.
Steve “King” Kinser
The Hammer… again I know 2. Danny Martin Jr and Marcel LaFrance

Guess here… Flyin’ Ryan Godown???

Hey Jerry! That is not the “Jiggs” I was looking for although it is a totally acceptable answer. The Jiggs I’m looking for was a driver and later car owner out of Connecticut. That should help tremendously.

Message from Chris Turner…

Two names well known in racing…
Chris Turner AKA “Big Fish”
Chris wants to make sure his friend and long time racer KENNY VAUGHN is remembered… his nic was “The One Man Racing Team”… Kenny passed away a few years back. Chris is doing everything you can do regarding FISH!!!
Message delivered Chris!
Carol Wicks

let’s not forget "the flyen irishman Larry Flynn as for the knights the black nite was jonny Boegman

One of the greatest nicknames from Florida short tracking belonged to a guy who was not remembered as a race driver. Who was “5 X 5”?

Boneman, I believe that was Bobby “5 x 5” Day, track photographer.

I just found out, over the weekend, that Kyle Bronson is nicknamed “Killer”.
asked about the midwest; the knights----the white knight was dickie trickle and the blue knight was tommy reffner
The Black Knight was Johnny Bogemann, in the #61.

That would be long time track photographer Bobby Day. While he never was known for it he did drive a race car early on in his career. His photos make up a significant partt of Eddie Roche,s Motorsports Retrospective books.

a Reutimann nic

Wayne Jr’s. nic… used to be “Pookie”… i bet it still is… :auto003:

Don’t forget about long time crewchief (for Donnie Tanner) and good wheelman in his day…Albert “Daddy-O” Morales

‘Daddy O’ was awesome, I used to root for him everytime I went to Eastbay.

Daddy-O drove my cars for several years. Comet, mustangs, etc. but ALWAYS a Ford !!

I remember the Comet, he was always on the gas !!!
