Happy Birthday Orlando Speedworld!!!

August 18, 1974 Speedworld opened. Happy Birthday and hope to keep celebrating this day for many more years. Thank you to the Hart Family for giving myself and many others a place to go have a lot of fun.
My first memories of that track were watching the Burkhalters, Andersons, David Rogers, Ray Smith and the Damn Yankee all mix it up in their respective classes before I could even drive myself there.
I went on to work with Ray Smith and eventually got my own car with the help of Ray and Tim’s Automotive. That wasn’t meant to be but it was fun for the couple of seasons I tried it. I then went on to (help probably isn’t the best word but I tried) learn from Rogers and his crew for several seasons.
Now I am lucky that I have found a new way to enjoy the sport and I am lucky enough to know that I will always end up in Victory Lane. Being a photographer I get to see it from angles most people can’t and I am lucky enough to meet a lot of good people.
And to think if Speedworld wasn’t there I wouldn’t know how much I love local racing and the teams that make it possible.
What are your memories??

And kudos to the track for getting Brighthouse channel 13 to do a mention all day today about the track.

Party Crashers Welcome

CRASH A RAMA series says Happy birthday speedworld were crashing this party!!:ernaehrung004: PS no DOGS allowed:)

Robert Hamke and I were there racing.Gene Johnson won from the pole. Most of the cars there were dirt cars,we wrecked passing for third on the outside. The sand was in the outside groove from the infield and the track started coming up from the heat it was a Sun afternoon and it was HOT.

Gene won the first LM race… Ed Meredith won the first feature race ever held at OSW in the preliminary which I think was for Limited Sportsman cars…

From the first LM race - Leroy Porter leading Dan Daughtry…
