After being rained out 3 TIMES and thought to be dead for 2012, the Sportsman 50 is back on the schedule for FRIDAY October 19th! A thousand thanks go to Barbara Pierce for making this happen. I know she has been working hard on lobbying for this to happen for quite a while now. Maybe all this Sportsman talk on KARNAC has FASCAR thinking about about featuring the division a little more prominently in the future? Once again another opportunity for us Sportsman guys to show how we will support an event like this and how a Series would be a winner for everyone in 2013. 50 Laps and $1000 to win. Sounds like a perfect preview of what a Series could and should be. Put it on your calendar. Any Sportsman in the state that would support a Series NEEDS TO BE AT THIS EVENT!!! :ernaehrung004:
it would be nice to see the pay thru the field i would travel over and race this and Scott im not trying to be greedy or anything just like to see all the cards on the table these days!!! want to know if Patrick T shows ill get diesel money to get home!!! And what rules are they going to allow???what tires ect. ect. ect.!!!
All Orlando Speedworld Purses (unless otherwise noted) are posted at the following link, on the website. http://orlandospeedworld.org/?page_id=50
@ Gary McFall. Hey Gary, here’s what I think you want to know. First the purse:
1st $1000
2nd $600
3rd $400
4th $300
5th $200
6th $150
7th $125
8th $100
9th $ 75
10th thru field $50
Second, the rules. 3,000 lbs to start with and 56% LSWT. Add 50 lbs for fabricated floorpan and firewall. Add 50 lbs if you have a three link. Stock clutch (no Punta Gorda 7 1/4 in. multi-disc allowed). If I’m not mistaken you’d just have to change your clutch and weigh only 3,050 because you have leaf springs. Am I correct? Tires are Hoosier 650’s on the right and 450’s on the left. You should still have a good set after that one race you ran at Desoto last year. Private Message me if you want to know more, I have run there a couple of times in the past two years. Hope to see you (and everyone else) there! :ernaehrung004:
dont understand these tracks the answer should be bring your car and rule book from your track the little clutch dont mean a damn thing we are competitive with everyone at every track im sorry but not willing to change up car for one race so i guess we wont come and i think i even had another car comming and his words are the same as mine!!!and please dont take it personally i just think these track owners and promotors have done the wrong thing for so long changing up rules to trap cars at there track this is what happens rules for all these classes should be the same problem solved!!! so what i say is they all need to get together and make one rule book so they have to be on there game for us to want to race at there track more cars mean more fans in the stands!!! WAKE UP TRACK OWNERS AND PROMOTORS ALL WE WANT IS TO RACE WITH OUT A HASSLE!!!
REALLY!!!if the small clutch don’t mean a thing then why spend 600 on it instead of 150 at autozone for the stock one. oh yah cause its at least 15 pounds lighter.
Wow rusty now if yo truly think the guys running in the front are running a hundred dollar clutch yea right try there spending a lot of money on a clutch made by 10000 rpm that looks just like a stock clutch and a 14 lb Flywheel so try again!!! And again we have guys that run a stock type clutch that come been beat by them and have beat them have gone to other tracks and. Even been beat point being by are rules at PGS we are 3100 with 56 lsw!!! And again you track promotors have made your beds by changing things to trap cars at your own tracks now your(notice the word yours) stands are empty cause people want to see more than 5 cars race just think if you all worked together and treated people with respect made your tech do there jobs and make the racers stay legal you might get car count and fan count!!! I really don’t care cause as long as the rules are all different it don’t cost me nothing cause I can travel 30 miles pretty much and race so again if Orlando wants cars to show up they need to give the racers a break on something that the sportsman have already proven the cars are pretty much equal no matter where you race with the different rules with no change crate motors open motors little clutch big clutch weight all of it the fast cars are fast no matter where they race!!! Peace out
Here’s the facts about smaller diameter clutches. The section covering moment of inertia is a good read.
dont forget pgs heads and cam r diffrent
Don’t cry about the shit that is different from track to track…if you want cars from other tracks shut up and allow their track rules or sit with empty pits…it’s really simple…PGS ,Showtime, and Desoto alloy it bring your rules to show your legal and run…
Everyone complains they want unified set of rules like ccs, sunshine, oss nss, auburndle, now u complain u want run what u brung.all because one track has its own rules and tires
The pressure plate in my car is from Speedway motors, it weighs 15.1 pounds and you can buy it from them for $99.95 plus shipping, or as with any of the parts on my car give me NEW replacement value and I will gladly pull it off and give it to you after the race. If you would take a little time and read the rules you would see that 10,000 RPM stuff or it’s lightweight equivelant are not legal at the 2 Fascar tracks.
I wish they would say bring your home track rules I want there to be 30 car’s at this race, Barbara and Orlando Speedworld need the shot in the arm, and what this one race could do for this place could be huge.
Maybe if you would call the tech offials and tell them you want to support this race but, I’ve got this that doesn’t match your rules, or that, that doen’t match your rules, they could just give you a small weight penalty and get you and your crew in the pit’s to help support the race. Boycotting a race because you read something on a message board is ridiculous, use your head and talk to the people that make the decisions.

Look Patrick I’m with you I’m not trying to say boycott anything I want to run there that’s why I asked!!! What I’m saying is this everyone complains about PGS cars in this class. what I see is this the so called little crate motor and big clutch wins most of the races so whats the deal if I was going to run at Orlando on a weekly deal than I should be with in there rules so far I’ve seen this you( Patrick) Morris and Williamson all crates and stock clutches win mOst of the races so I want to see this series deal work out and if it does I will change a little for them but as you have previous stated in other threads the series was for a budjet racer well I don’t have the money to switch things over for a chance that it’s going to work out when I run at PGS on a normal bases do why can we all run together at the other tracks and be competitive with the different rules I won some lost some and other times wished I just stayed home So here’s the deal I want to race with out spending a lot of money to travel around not changing up my car!!! I’m. Of trying to start anything new I’ve ran at citrus didn’t win finished decent there ran desoto finished 3rd and won among other top 5 finishs watched Patrick win against other PGS cars at Showtime with no changes to anyone so the crate motors are winning with the big stock clutch now if I go out and lap the whole field(dreaming) than I could see all this B.S. to have a meaning but that’s not the case were being beat we’re not complaining we just trying to race and have a blast doing so!!! So Patrick I don’t know the track people at Orlando you do talk to them I still want to cOme and race and probably bring some others with me!!!
I will see what I can do Gary, I have to change my car for every different track I run, I have 2 different transmission’s, 2 different 10.5 clutches, and about 200 pounds of lead, all to go from track to track. The weight’s all very At Citrus I weigh 2900 after the race at Auburndale 3000 after the race at Orlando and Newsmyrna I have to weigh 3100 before the race so as you can see it is work to go to different track’s.

Gary call me if you need help or need to know how to get ahold of the tech people, if I don’t have their number I will get it for you.

put a little clutch in patrick, morris, then see how bad they beat everyone they beat everyone in the corner not down the straight
ill call the track thanks everyone!!! and everyone look at what patrick wrote he does to race track to track its not right we already work hard enough to have fun at our hobby and being put thru unnessary work!!!thanks patrick glad someone gets it!!!
Hey Gary, I got one set of rules that I sent to Rick Williams of FUPS and Scott Jackman of the old Southern Sportsman Series that a bunch of RACERS agreed upon at the dead Sportsman Challenge Series meetings. They allow both the “little” and “big” clutches and make EVERYONE legal EVERYWHERE with a little weight difference. It would be great if they could use them for a Series AND adopt them as the Sportsman rules for ALL the tracks. We’d all benefit. See you at Orlando brother!
hay you scott its all good alls im saying is im a PGS car and orlando has a race if you let me run PGS rules ill come out and play see Patrick might like doing all that work but i dont and as far as weight i dont care dont matter as long as were on the same page before i leave my shop!!!just saying I want to race without a bunch of work thats the point hear its one race not a season and as far as spending that much on a clutch not me!!!im a low budget racer!!!
i think you should get orlando to try and run a test run with those rules on the 19 ill come and im sure alot of others would its far enough out and PGs anounces there on hoosiers now its could be a big big deal for all the sportsman and the track!!!:ernaehrung004:

I can see where it would be very frusstrating for you guys to be changing you’re car every time you want to race a diff track. patrick i saw what you have to do to race you’re car at 3 diff tracks total bs, gary I also agree with not wanting to change you’re clutch for one race, This would be my suggestion bring you’re rule book, practice, time trial or heats, and see how the cars stack up against each other for this one race, i think that a little weight added or took a way here and there would not be a big deal. Ihope this race can pull30 cars and set the stepping stone for a future series for you cats good luck. BTW my money is on morris lol
