Sportsman Series Racers!!!
This race will be run as the support division for the FUPS Late Model series 150 lap finale so it should be in front of a big crowd.
FUPS officals/ promoter will be there and they are looking for a good turn out for the race to make a final decision on whether they should bring back the Sportsman series for 2013. So roll those cars out and see if we can make a good case for the need of a 2013 Sportsman Series!
Gears:
Crate motor (6200-6400) 620-633
Built motor (6900-7200) 666-683
If you want to see a Series for Sportsman cars in 2013, you gotta make this event in some way, shape or form. Rules are pretty relaxed so if you have a Sportsman you are pretty much legal. A big field will most likely assure a touring Series next year for Sportsman. If your car is bent up or if you can’t race for any reason at all, but are planning on racing in the Series in 2013, then at least show up, buy a pit pass and introduce yourself to the FUPS people as a competitor who will race in the Series in 2013. If your a fan of Sportsman racing, then you gotta show your support on the grandstand side. How can you go wrong? 150 laps of Super Late Model racing and 50 laps of Sportsman racing with the best teams in FL filling the field in both divisions on A-Dale’s beat-and-bang bullring! SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!!!:ernaehrung004:
Threat? LMAO And BTW A-Dale is doing just fine. That’s why the FUPS Late Model race was moved from Desoto to A-Dale for this event. This is just a calling to get all the Sportsman teams out that would support a Touring Series in 2013 (like a lot of us have been calling for). “If you come out and support this, I’m warning you there will be a FUPS Sportsman Series in 2013!” Now that’s a threat I like!
Has there been any sort of preliminary rules for the 2013 sportsman series? I know of a few guys looking to get a car together for it but everyone is just kind of waiting around to see whats gonna happen.
The word I have heard is that the Series rules will be put together shortly after the “Preview” race on Dec. 8th. I think they want to see how the competition is with the provisional rules that they have put forward for this race and tweak it from there. If you know anyone that is seriously planning on putting a car together for this Series then I would suggest that they show up in the pits for the Preview race at Auburndale. They can make their support for the Series known and also ask any questions that they have and get answers right from FUPS director Rick Williams.
have all the cars at 56% left when everywhere else runs 58% left. Your asking the majority of cars to change…Maybe A dale should change ? Just a thought
LSWT% Rule is 56% at pretty much every track for Sportsman. 57% at Punta Gorda only if you have a stock floorpan and firewall. Otherwise 56% is the rule at Punta Gorda, Auburndale, Showtime, Citrus, Orlando and New Smyrna. Don’t know about Bronson and Lake City since they don’t have websites. Desoto is the only track that doesn’t have a LSWT% rule.
Absolutely no offense in this matter but… The rules are all over the dam place with sportsman. We went from citrus to a dale last year and they made us take the weight off left side. This is two tracks that were working with each other. Open rear ends, three links, quick changes, different clutches, crates, 2 barrels, 4 barrels, msd’s and left side weight all factor in. Would be cool to get all the cars on level playing ground like the mods. Think it would be good for the class and everyone involved. JMO
That was last year, this is now…
Orlando, Newsmyrna, Auburndale, Citrus, and now Showtime since they now have rules, as well as Ellisville according to the post above all run 56 percent left side weight. Punta Gorda is different and variable I believe depending upon the chassis you are running. Bronson well who really know’s I can’t find a rule book, I guess it has been said it is 58 percent. Desoto has the strangest rule of all, they give you a right side weight of 1350 pounds, don’t know if that is before the race or after. The rules have gotten much closer this year than any year in the past. I can see the rules getting even closer next year with the addition of a series.
Now if you have a car and it still has any life left in it this season, get it together and get it to Auburndale.
Hopefully all the tracks that participate in the FUPS Sportsman Series will adopt the the FUPS Sportsman Rule Book for their weekly Sportsman rules. That should help get the Sportsman rules in line around the state. We gotta support this Auburndale Preview race on December 8th to show the support will be there. Come on out! :ernaehrung004:
any unsealed crate motor will have to run a 2 barrel carb and add 100 lbs ? so anyone can cheat up their 602 and replace the seal bolts and its ok to run ? why not let everyone race and tech em like any motor ? you would think the tech man would be glad the seal bolts are out as it will save a couple hours teardown time searching for a welder . right Patrick ? lol !
I have alway’s said, sealed or unsealed they need to be torn down… If the track’s can afford the tech tool’s to tech them without tearing them down then great, but if you don’t have the equipment tear them down.
I have spoken with Rex about the no seal add weight and run a two barrel rule, I personnally think it’s a cop out. Why run off car’s with unsealed crate motors that could and probably would help support this race with a rule that punishes them to that extreme. It doesn’t affect me either way, my motor is still factory sealed, but I want all the nonsealed car’s to be there also, but mark my word’s “they will not be with this rules package with the crates” end QUOTE…
My feelings have always been check everything you can from the outside, if there are then question’s scatter the motor all over the pit area…
Either your right or your wrong, and we all know I’ve been on both end’s of a track tear down, but it has to be done.

And by the way no, at this point the rearend is towed out 1 and 3/4s of an inch, I have a plan and am looking for a little tire money, if I can get it close to straight for really cheap and can find enough money for a right rear tire, I’ll be there. Unless we have so much fun on our three day Snowball Derby trip that I dont feel like finishing the car.
Showtime’s Rules for Sportsman have recently been posted on www.showtimespeedway.us . I think they are the same as Citrus rules except that there is a 100lb weight penalty for using the GM 602 crate motor.
