Whitener crossed the line first at the NeSmith Crate Late show at Bubba’s last weekend, but was DQ’ed for an illegal motor. Turns out, Bubba’s own company BUILT that motor, which cost that team $10,000, plus a $1000 fine.
Bubba has personally paid the fine, paid Whitener the $10K he would have gotten for the win, and will provide a brand new Crate motor to the team. Nobody can reverse or make up for the 1-year suspension from the Series itself.
I have NEVER heard of someone going to these extremes to right a wrong. Bubba gets a lot of bad press from pissed off racers, but in this case, he went above & beyond to correct the situation.
$8500 for a crate motor that was knowingly put together illegally and way over priced. paying the man his money is the only thing bubba could have done. there is nothing stand up about that guy. jmo.
Yea I agree should be out of the crate and no crate motor should be running with out seals and when they catch a cheated up crate motor who ever is responsable should be banned for a year. and if caught again a life time and all wins and points should be taken away and winnings paid back. .
Yes, I don’t know the whole story but I know whitener uses Byron Kory who is a nesmith rebuilder. I can only assume bubba was in 58 teams ear about gettin this motor. I feel bad for 58 team but they learned a valuable lesson. Bubba perf engines dba zeigler can no longer be trusted.
I’ll say the same thing here I said over on the other Florida forum…someone was still doing something wrong. Bubba’s engine shop is not listed as a NeSmith rebuilder, so nobody should be having a crate engine “built” there anyhow. So either the team was duped by Bubba’s engine guy telling him that it was a stock crate, or the team was trying to pull something fishy.
