INDIANAPOLIS -
People Magazine is reporting three-time Indianapolis 500 champion Dario Franchitti and his wife, actress Ashley Judd, are splitting up.
The couple released a statement exclusively to the magazine Tuesday announcing the divorce.
“We have mutually decided to end our marriage. We’ll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed,” the statement read.
Minutes after People tweeted the news, Judd took to the social media network with a simple tweet.
“Family forever @dariofranchitti,” Judd tweeted.
The couple was married in a private ceremony in Scotland in 2001.
Franchitti won the IndyCar Championship in 2007, then spent a year racing on the NASCAR circuit before returning to win the championship the next three years. He won the Indianapolis 500 in 2007, 2010 and again this past year.
This means no more watching Judd run braless in the rain to winners circle at Indy…sigh
