Hopefully not rain, but the electricity of speedweeks!
Working from home the rest of the week to get an early start to the tracks. I went by one of hotels in the burgeoning metropolis of DeLand this AM and was greeted by the sight of 4-5 big rig haulers/toters. Was going to just pass on by but one of the teams had their sprint car out cleaning up from yesterdays practice - so I had to stop in. I dont know much about sprint cars or many of their drivers so every opportunity to get up close - I take.
I spoke with Caleb Helms (?) and he took a few seconds to chat. I will be rooting for him tonight - seemed like a real cool kid. Always good to see what these guys think about coming down here. He was a little surprised to hear that the track resembled a beat up cow pasture a few weeks back - said it worked up real nice last night for them.
As we were talking yet another big hauler pulled in with a UMP mod in it. Man - this is a great time of year to be around here!
Hope the rain holds off tonight!
