Volusia!!!!

VCS is to open for weekly races. April 6th open practice and April 13th first race. Late models will be on D21s and D55s.

Tell me more. Hadn’t heard a single thing about this.

Got a text from Flagman Billy yesterday telling me. I don’t know who is running it and I thought there would be a press release by now. I heard it was going to happen from another source and it seems they were right. Two weeks til practice. John 1*

Great News…thanks for posting the news…Please keep us informed as to what is happening at VCS. I hadn’t heard or seen a thing about VCS either. Thanks again!!!

I hope they dont have double file restarts or change their name - it would be over before it started

Maybe they will call it “Throttle Time”?

Kidding aside, every restart should be double file on a great track like that.

I personally don’t think it is so great of news…as of LAST Sat. night tracks in the aera anre having a “HARD” time filling stands and having a “FULL” field of cars…now you are going to throw another track in the mix…all within 100 miles of each other…

The real question is “WHAT TRACK WILL CLOSE BEFORE THE SEASON IS OVER?” Honestly do not want to seem negative but I “BLIND” man can see this one. Just do not see the it helping … Yes you have another track to go to cause you can’t stand Bubba…you wore out your welcome with Phil at NFS…you jumped on the BAND WAGON at Putnam…now VSP is be resirectied from the grave…4 tracks on Sat. night…not including EB. … you have maybe 50 Hobby/Thunder/Street Stock to deviede up betwen the 4…maybe they get 10 cars each…I just don’t see it being a win win deal for ANYBODY…all on Sat. night

You forgot one other track in the square. The Bullring in Ocala just down the road from BRP… Marion County Speedway(Bullring) will be running Friday races from time to time too.

Or maybe someone is celebrating April Fools Day a little early. I know they had a bunch of racing there around Speedweeks, so it must be pretty much ready to race on.

Nothing like having a positive attitude!

I know right. My feelings about the track are, it’s one of, if not the nicest facility in the state. If ran properly should be the premier venue for dirt racing in Florida along with East Bay. Plus it’s only 45 minutes from my shop. :ernaehrung004: Centrally located. I realize there are alot of tracks operating right now and the smart thing would probably be for someone to switch to Friday nights. I know that causes a whole new set of problems but it might keep them above water. Either way I’m excited to have another place to race. John 1*

Seems like there are alot of “experts” on here that perhaps should fork out the money and open their own track since they know everthing about running one.I personally wish them(VSP) the best of luck and I believe if they can rebuild the reputation of that facility that has been ran into the dirt over the last few years that they will come out on top!I love racing all over the place, but that track is hands down the most fun to drive, and as far as double file resarts,I say thats what the fans paid to see so give it to them, after all without the fans in the stands what is the purpose of even having a racecar?JMO

volusia

glad to hear they are opening , will they copy other local track rules ( car spec’s & tires ) never know when or where it’s going to rain ??

Yes,keeping everything the same from what I am being told.Just still working on fuel.

Hey Statts are you running the Mini at Putnam Sat night. And good luck with the late Model!!

no taking a week off.had a family trip planned.thanks

Right up the road so this is good news for me! Nice facility that should not sit idle.

VCS website & Facebook is not current and they are opening the gates next week???

My Thunder Stock is almost ready…Was going to run Putnam County, will be going to VCS instead…Any body know where we can find the rules???

volusia time

what time is practice ???

I just don’t understand why Florida tracks feel that Saturday night is the only night to run. I know of many tracks across the nation that run on Friday nights, and Sunday evenings that do very well. Why some even run midweek and make it work. The Saturday night only mentality of Florida race track owners and promoters has to go in favor of common sense.

I could not agree more. Bubba North Florida and Putnam all running late models something has to give, This week Putnam and North Florida are going head to head while Bubba is running the crate lates. Whitener and others run both classes so we will see Sunday morning how it all shakes out. Very soon Volusia will be on the scene as well so there will be no room for cooperation as has existed in the past between Bubba and North Florida. Even with a purse war the field will be diminished for all fans.
