Orlando Speedworld

Call osw and found out Barbara is no longer at the track not shore about Butch does anybody no hew going to run the Track . James

Butch is gone also.

How about Wesnsf.

so what happend?

Heard Wesnsf (Wes Rhaling no sure of the spelling) is the Manager now. IMHO they might as well keep it locked up. Butch and Batb worked their butts off. I think Ozie really only cares about the Drag Strip as he does come from Drag Racing. But he had to take the whole thing to get the Drag Strip. Carl offered many times to buy the Drag Strip portion over the years. Heard from the grapevine they were shocked when they paid something to all cars in money classes unlike in Drag Racing where they only pay back 4 spots in each class.

Constant surprises at that track. This is a bad time to be just drifting along, they need to be concentrating on getting up and running.
Hopefully they will come up with some brand new personnel instead of just recruiting from the same group of roving race track promoters. Sure seems like you could do well with such a huge potential fan center like Orlando. I recall it being a long drive to get there, but there must be half a million race fans in that area to draw from.
Whatever they do is fine as long as they don’t decide to close the doors.

Breaks my heart

It was a long time coming

Wes… what is your e-mail?

Butch and Barbara could run that place with their eyes closed. It’s evident that Ozzie has no clue what he’s doing. I hope I’m wrong but all I see is the dragstrip flourishing and the oval going to hell.

schedule?

Is there a tentative / partial schedule posted anywhere, other than the opening day ad?

There are 3 Brighthouse races on NSS Brighthouse link that are at OSW but nothing on their site, first is on 4/12/13.Just looked it is on OSW 2013 Brighthouse link also.

Answers are few and far between !

With Butch & Barbara gone, the answers will be few and far between. Ozzie was not listening to the right people, and there is still way more of the Hart influence involved than anyone knows and it will only keep the place down. They still hold strings, Nascar or no Nascar the same people that have held the place back are still doing it. Ozzie may well make the drag strip go, but the oval track is not on the priority list. Fixing fences, concreting ramps and holes is great but there is no answers, to anything really. From some info I have heard Wes will proceed with some rules changes that will not help, Ozzie will not commit to races, Butch and Barbara tried to push to get answers, things planned and done and they were held at bay, with their hands tied behind their backs. That is something the Harts have passed on to Ozzie apparently because that is how they expected you to work for them too. You know it really to bad that it has to be this way, but until there is a real and major change at the top neither of the tracks will do what they are capable of doing. Puttin Nascar on the tracks will not fix what is wrong at either one. The new lease owner has no experience managing a race track, now the new manage has none either. I know Wes is a good guy, but some of the already planned rules & things, and questions that need to be answered are a major issue and will continue. If the track truly wanted to succeed than they would have listened to people other than the Harts, and it is not always your best interest to listen to what all the drivers have to say even. I always try to consider thier thoughts but it is not always the best answers. Butch & Barbara cared a lot for the track as do I and many others but most of that is being rejected and the status quo or worse if being the direction. That direction will not fix the track and make it successful. Placing a Nascar name bandaid on it will not either. Sure is sad to see, but there comes a time when you have to just let it go.

Although Ozzy may not know how TO run a racetrack, maybe he knows how NOT to run one. If Barbara, Butch or Rick had done such a great job, there wouldn’t be a problem that needs to GET fixed.

This isn’t a slam on The Pierces at all, but the facts are that OSW struggled to get cars in the pits, and butts in the seats. The place NEEDS new blood. The only real change I saw coming, was changing the ‘F’ in Fascar to an ‘N’… other than that, same night, same divisions, same people… there was nothing ‘new’ planned.

The old formula didn’t work. Something HAD to change, and whether this is a good change or not so good, remains to be seen.

But it IS different, and that means there’s hope.

It will never work on Fridays even if Jesus Christ is the manager.

Since everyone is throwing in their 2 cents…

I’ll start by saying that I like Butch and Barbara. They are honest, hard-working people who dearly love our sport. I am surprised they have parted ways, but its not their first rodeo and they will do just fine, no matter what they choose to take on.

I also think that posters on this thread are too negative about the situation. Remember, neither Wes nor Mr. Moya are new to the racing business. They have both proven themselves successful at other venues in this part of the state. I’m betting that their management approach, whatever it may be, will help in the rebuilding process. Hang in there with them: there will be steps forward, and other steps backwards.

By the way, I had a nice talk with Butch and I can assure you that his love and enthusiasm for the track have not dimmed. He and the family will be there racing and having a great time, you can count on that.

I know I’ll be there on opening night, and am rounding up some friends and family to go too. I suggest we all give them a chance, over and over if necessary.

Typical Rick Bristol.

It has worked before on Fridays ( twice )1997 and 1998 2000 2004
Had great car counts over 125 each week and fans
Thanks
