Now this one is a curiosity. The most closely guarded secret in all of racing. Haven’t announced who took over the track. Haven’t announced who the track principals are. Haven’t announced classes. Haven’t announced payouts. Haven’t announced sanctioning if any.
If all this info has been posted somewhere, i’ve missed it. Don’t know all that much about the track, but it’s nice to see any track making a comeback.
I’m not sure why you would call it a closely guarded secret. This has all come about in the last two weeks. I think the papers were just signed, so this notice is pretty damn fast compared to others. It’s not a secret who is doing it. I wish I could telly you but I forget the name, as it is someone I don’t know but who has been heavily involved in the racing industry. Racers know them. Give it a chance.
Still great to hear this news and see the poster. Have spent many a night over the years at this half-miler. First time was in 1979 (pretty sure of the year but may be a little off due to memory loss, lol). Track was always a great night of racing for all involved. Great field of cars also back in the day. Usually 16-18 Late Models, 28-36 Street Stock, plus a couple of other divisions. Memories of Paul George battling with JT Peacock, Rob Underwood & Roho Simms. The Nosbiches making the drive over for special shows. David Showers moving up in divisions. TBARA dirt division put on many great shows as well. Sunday rain date in many cases. Lots of Central Florida history with this oval. Many dedicated drivers to this track.,even up until their last shutdown. In my opinion they should have never went asphalt as they had a great Saturday show which rivaled any track in the state. Used to have Ocala on Friday and Volusia on Saturday for two great nights of dirt action. Best of luck to the new promoter-owner and will be there to see your show. Please don’t get rid of the STEAK FRIES!!! They should be the State Potato - as Tony the Tiger would say they’re GRRRRRREAT!!!
