Visited a dirt track for the first time… East bay. Actually met mr OSF himself standing in line to get in. He is a super nice man! And smart too.
I have to say,so far… Dirt isn’t all the hype. It’s definitely different… We enjoyed the owm and sprint cars. I dont see the speed I am used to with the stocks.
I am reserving my final impression of dirt, but I am thinking it will be one of those occasional things.
f you are only going to a dirt race occasionally then I highly suggest you consider the USAC non wing sow at Bubbas during speedweeks. This is the purest form of dirt racing placing the driver way ahead of the car in importance. They will get 3 and 4 wide in the turns and the track will almost always be multiple grooved. As for the dirt in your face it has been one of the best meals I have had at some tracks.
There was a time way back when that if you followed a certain driver (or drivers)you may go to both types of track as many racers did.Now you are either a dirt racer or blacktop racer pretty much.Overall my preferance is the asphalt but I still enjoy an occasional dirt track race.I think with a smaller car count the dirt racing is closer, more competitive and overall more exciting, not as much follow the leader.Good ol safety glasses will keep the dirt out of the eyes, what lands on your clothes save take home and plant and maybe you will grow a new racetrack.lol
Yep…you’re right again Ricky…(hate it when that happens…not often though)… you missed a great OWM Race…Buzzie spanked the field…I’m bringing googles next time…Desoto this week TWIN 35’s for OWM…Should be good…OSF…(YAA…someone said I was smart…sure had them fooled)
