Looked at the schedule for the Oval track at Speed World for the remainder of the year and there is no mention let alone a picture of Stock Cars on the page. The schedule is filled both Friday and Saturday nights with drifting, spinning, sliding, car shows and all that kind of nonsense. Both Friday’s and Saturdays. Not 1 word about Stock Car racing. I guess that’s the end of Stock Cars out there. The end of an era!!! We all thought Robert was bad, but wish there was some way he could/would take it back. Like they say “Don’t wish for something else because it can’t get any worse”. Well Ozie proved it can!!!

Donnie wants to run oval cars, and is not done with them by any means. The postponement of the remainder of the season was based on lack of attendance in the first half. They are trying to put together a package that will bring the cars and the fans. What they tried the first half of the year didn’t work out the way they expected so why beat a dead horse? They are willing to take chances with new ideas and do new things but re-vamping a schedule and lining up sponsors, series etc MID SEASON is not an easy thing to do.
The season was not supposed to re-start until September… They announced 1 month early that it was going to be pushed back. Why do people feel the need to badger them and expect weekly or daily updates…

I just wanted to give you all an update on weekly racing at the Oval Track. At this time we have decided to push back the September 5th start date. We do not feel that we are ready to resume weekly racing at the time. We are currently working with local businesses, radio, and other promotional outlets to try and get some new and exciting things happening but until we are 100% confident that we can put on the best show for our fans and drivers we feel this is the best decision.
When the time comes for addition announcements we will let everyone know

Phil, srry but I have to agree with pretty much everyone else on the OSW. I do not know Donnie and have not spoke to him, this being said I don’t think it has much to do with him…we learned that with a few other GM’s. Getting OSW back on track as far as stock cars goes really hasn’t been a big priority to Ozzy. We keep hearing how bad it is for OSW. The excuses are overdone, last year a GM pushed for a SLM race, the word was we needed a turn out and we would be put on the schedule racers and fans alike. problem with that was the track did nothing for advertising until 1 week to the race, and even then it wasn’t really advertised… a few flyers at a couple local shops. Ozzie refused to put any $ out to advertise. We still had an alright car count maybe 30 fans and the vibe given was that we the racers had to bring in the fans. No SLM races since. All the hype about running PLM’s starting in sept. … see where that went. we all know you need more than support divisions to draw anyone in, plain and simple Ozzie never made the effort to make it work. 1 excuse after another, he has made more effort in accommodating other venues than he ever did with racing. If any effort was given you would think the grass would have at least been cut. the grass was the height of my son, concessions weren’t open, the bathrooms that were open were filthy, others weren’t working. It doesn’t matter what Donnie’s intentions are when it’s being neglected by the lease holder. The BS that no ones coming to our events… no interest etc. is on the track. Almost every OSW post on karnac gets massive amounts of views, more than dosoto, showtime,adale,nss (short of big event notices), almost every racer I have heard of loves OSW as a track, the fans are here just untapped. people need to see an effort last more than 1 week. Its so hard yet we have how many other tracks that racers hate doing fine in FL. ? racers will go where they can race, its pretty simple…put a real show together, show consistency, and stop BS ing people. Ozzie knows how to make it work…he has no interest. He had 2 good GM’s last year and now from the sounds of it another one… its not the gm that will get things going, I would like to see Mr Hart get the track back too.
you also have to remember Donnie was running the drifting shows that were over in Taft area in Orlando and orange county shut it down do to noise complaints has he ever ran a oval track ? I am guessing not .
Even during it’s better days, the place always took a back seat to New Smyrna.
Ironically, I like the racing there better.
Auburndale, Citrus, Showtime all have cars that could go there if the situation was right.
Get a decent show there, one or many, and I will go.

IMO, Ozzy is a business man. Business is about making money… The drag strip has been the priority because it makes money. I don’t know Ozzy from Jack so I can’t comment on what he has or has not done. All I do know is that he inherited a mess. The track was a joke the last time I had been there in 2010… So you can not place FULL blame on him for the state of OSW’s facilities. When I drove by in July when I was down there, it was still 10 times nicer and better kept than about 8 of our tracks up here lol You guys don’t know how lucky you are to have some of the nice facilities you do have.
That is not what my response was about though. My response was aimed at the fact that there are no less than 4 threads about OSW within 3 pages of this site… There is no need for it. Keep one going, if you got a bitch or gripe, post it in 1. It’s ridiculous to have 18 posts about the same thing going at the same time. It’s pure laziness that the OP could not scroll down about 10 posts and add onto the other OSW thread sitting right on the main page lol!!!
Donnie getting CFRC shut down due to noise complaints (actually zoning issues with the city) was hardly anything to make him a bad manager. It doesn’t matter if he previously ran a circle track… Gotta start somewhere right? so where is your argument. He Owned and Managed a successful auto-x, drifting and 1/8 mile drag facility for over 2 years. The issues the city had were not his fault. Unfortunately, when you are not a longstanding facility such as OSW, you are more likely to get the shaft by the city govt. Welcome to politics.
Believe it or not, what people post and say DOES have an effect. A track in Indiana was just shut down because of it. Thompson Speedway 1 mile from my house cut back to 7 races (just enough to keep NASCAR sanction and Mod Tour events) because they were sick of the continuous bashing. We ARE lucky that OSW is still actually there.

Haters gonna hate buddy lmfao! It really is too bad that the past has left such a bad taste in everybody’s mouth about OSW and honestly, I fully understand that and get it. Why would you go back to a place that treated you poorly and such. I get that, I’m just trying to get people to be a little more open minded about what’s going on. Like I keep saying, it would be quicker and cheaper for them to just say “We regret to inform you but as of (date) we are no longer going to be hosting stock car events at the Orlando Speed World Oval Track” It’s that simple, but they haven’t. So why keep thrashing them saying they don’t care when it’s clear that they haven’t given up yet.

They are looking at running a different day instead of Friday, That’s why you see Friday’s filling up with other stuff right now. I also brought up an idea to him just yesterday that he liked which was running groups on alternating weeks. An example I gave him was group A which is SLM, PLM, OWM, SPortsman, Pro Trucks etc and group B which is Bombers, Stricklys Super Stocks, Minis and whatnot. He is very accepting of suggestions. They are working on the ideas and trying to make something work but Rome wasn’t built in a day and he wants it to be right when they do get it going because he does care. The constant negativity is frustrating and as I said, it’s shut down tracks before which is extremely sad.
Phil you drove by in July and the track was 10 nicer? OMG well I can you this that track has never been in worse shape since ozzy took over nasty bathrooms grass not mowed nasty concession stand food . we were there one night 20 fans in the stands and they didn’t even have a cups for drinks people are tired of hearing OH we are working on something been hearing that for 2 years . and always blaming someone else.
If Donnie needs advice on classes to run he needs plan a meeting and talk to the drivers that race down here at osw . Phil you have A ideal about alternating classes that’s funny that’s nothing new. that’s what they were doing before ozzy took over .
Like I said, crying isn’t going to fix anything. It will either get fixed, or it wont. Unless you want to be proactive and try to help them, all you do is make it worse by bitching about it.
If you think you can do better, I promise they will gladly rent the facility out to you and let you have at it. LOL! Good luck!

Maybe I am old fashioned but I personally prefer the same classes every week and believe that would be key to slowly building a steady base of cars and fans.
Showtime mixes it up, and I show up for particular shows accordingly.
Shortrack–When I went to the recent modified show the facilites were acceptable. Theoretically it will have to be fairly decent to appeal to the wine-and-cheese Ferrari types that will be zooming around.
Maybe they will run figure eights. I would show up for that!

I agree, Donnie does need to set a meeting. Even if it means cancel the rest of 2014 and re-group for 2015. But the phone works both ways… Pick it up and call him and suggest it. Be part of the solution my man! That’s all I am trying to get into peoples heads. They have the power to help and the power to hurt. It’s easier to hurt. I chose to try and Help which is the kind of person I am. If I was at the track and any of you guys had an issue and I had the part or tool. Come see me! You are more than welcome. Better yet, I’ll come help you lol! That’s how I am. Now maybe you understand why I fight so hard for the tracks and drivers.

Well I agree, I like seeing the same stuff every week too. But here was my thought behind the suggestion.
OSW is struggling. If they were to switch to Sundays, and alternate weeks, maybe some guys would be willing to run 2 times in 1 week twice a month if they could afford it, or if tracks rained out Saturday they could go get their fix on Sunday.
Just trying to give helpful suggestions or ideas. That’s all I ever try to do. People just like to shit on me lol It’s all good

Gotta stick up for dd39 on this though, he was there more than any of the current MOUTHS on here.

If I was in FL I would have been there as much as I could be. I support in the ways I can though. I do my best to support and tout ALL of Florida racing. Can definitely see that if you were to follow me on FB. Unfortunately, I am where I am currently and I do what I can. If there was racing scheduled the two times I was down there in 2014, I would have been there. I went to NSS in July
