Sparked a thought–for Bithlo, or really, anywhere, why not run a form of the same “rules” for stock cars?

Actually,OSW had 36 cars compared to a dismal 39 at NSB

Matt, I have to respectfully disagree. There is nothing that will stop racers from trying to game the system.
Andre, I love the simplicity and effectiveness of the system that you describe.
“The advantage (to running faster than your qualifying time + margin and then braking) is that guys behind you may not realize what you are doing in turn, causing them to break out and be disqualified trying to keep up with you losing track of what is going on.” –PJ
Yep, their bad, then. Everybody could run straight up without the chicanery, and if they don’t, more fun for the fans.
I too agree with Andre generally, except I would run the whole deal week after week as mentioned: Qualify, invert. Run heats, invert again. Last week’s, or the last 12 week’s finishes are neither here nor there this week.
That way it is easy to understand for any outsiders that haven’t “played” yet, and at the end of the season, the points are tallied on Feature finishes only, and they will add up just fine.
Yes. I saw an old man in a early 70’s Ford pickup with the stock worn out 302 and a set of slicks take home the money 3 weekends in a row up here a few years ago because he hit his numbers every time. he would get such a head start everyone would break out trying to make up the gap.
