I posted this last week in hopes of helping my friend Dylan Martin and his family meet their goal in helping the kids & families being supported by this year’s charity race… Despite a really good number of teams and fans at the track it was disappointing that no one made a donation or even mentioned they saw this… I’ll re-post today hoping that we can raise a few bucks to help these great kids - again, we are not looking for big race sponsors here - if you are interested in doing that (and I hope a few of you are), go to the CARS Racing For A Cause web site and find out how you can get involved that way… Also, don’t forget any donation you make is tax deductible but if all you have is some loose change… well, it all adds up and it all helps!
Here, again, is the original post… let’s get started in helping these kids!
A CHALLENGE TO THE RACERS AND FANS OF NEW SMYRNA SPEEDWAY
Although it’s only April, we are already in the process of raising money for
the three families that will be supported by the charity race on December 11th
and 12th this year at Auburndale Speedway. Young racer Dylan Martin has a
goal of raising $10,000 for the cause by the time December rolls around. As
of Tuesday, 4/14/15, Dylan has raised $1,869 to help the CARS kids. I’m
asking racers and fans of New Smyrna Speedway to help with this cause. You
can see me (announcer Dave Westerman) in the pits in the afternoon or come by
the tower anytime during the night. Even if you only can donate a dollar,
every little bit helps. Make sure to give me your name so that I can pass it
along to Dylan and Kim Scheffler who is helping to organize the events this
year and I will pass any funds collected directly to them. The kids being
helped this year are:
Maci Ashby who has Pulmonary Atresia
Skyla Monday who suffers from Acute Lymphoblastic Luekemia
Lucas Grigg who has Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma
Please help remember these kids in your thoughts, prayers and giving.
