If you picked up the lease you could rename it “The Boneyard”.
I would pay to be there!

Add Ellisville,going dirt.
Columbia, Lake City, Ellisville are all one in the same, Kendo.
Oh crap,I need to get out more
And interpreted by promotors as “we did it for the benefit of the fans and drivers”
Darn, I was hoping that was a false rumor.
Man, I have mixed emotions looking at those pics. Happy that someone is pumping money into the place to give it it’s best shot as a viable racing venue. Sad that the asphalt is going away and that I’ll never get to turn another lap at one of my favorite and unique tracks. I guess I’ll always have my memories. Here’s to the success of the new Tech Raceway in Ellisville!
LMAO
With the standing room only crowd at BRP and the lines at the concession stands, you’d think the food was free too. Only time I’ve seen the stands that full there was at a monster truck show. Oh, and the racing was good too…

ANOTHER Fresh Start?
Posted VIA Citrus County Speedway Website
To all the great Owners/Drivers and fans that I have at Citrus County Speedway.
I have been called a lot of things since 2013 when I took over your local track which is all cool.
At the first Drivers meeting in 2014 I explained that My main Business was in Tampa Fl and I made my income from that and I come to help Citrus County Speedway out and spend money in your town which I have to help save you all out in bad times. I could have had save thousands of Dollars if I had used Business in Tampa that I have done business for year but I did not. Since 2013 I have not even come close to brake even for many reason some of my own mistaken and some from many other reason. I asked for all your local support and help save your local track. Which I did get some but not 100% and we all know this, Which Is ok.
In todays world short track racing is going down hill all over the USA and even Nascar is too. Which we all know this so being negative does not help theses problem out at all.
It up to us all as a full team to save our own local tracks through out Florida not just Citrus County Speedway.
In the last two week I have been moving My main business that has paid my bills for years and help support a big part of the bill in the last year to give all you a place to race and to have fun which racing can be very fun.
Which is being finished this weekend.
Citrus County Speedway is not closed down for good or the rest of the season Many things are being looked at by many people to make your local track the best in the state to race at . Citrus County need this track to stay open for to help support your county. Once again I will say Mr. Gary Laplant or any one can do it with out help in todays time. It a team effort to help save all your dreams of your locals track not just mine.
My staff and my self are talking on what needs to be done to make your local track a better place but with all the negative items at hand its very hard to get local business to want to even help or be part of your local track at all.
Please let all look at a new fresh start like I am doing by stepping up to the plate to keep Your Local track Open once again.
There will be more updated up by Wed on how we will be going forward on upcoming racing
Gary Laplant
How many fresh starts does this guy need
ATTN. Jimmy Cope and Critter. Please take this track over and make something of it. The track and the town deserve a lot better than this.
I don’t understand why these boards keep letting the same people lease these tracks when they know what’s happened before. Gary and Bobby pretty much killed off Charlotte County ( then the board let an even more incompetent person come in and finish it off ). Then they lease Citrus to the very same Gary. Not only that, it looks like Gary doesn’t even want Bobby to have anything to do with Citrus, what does that tell you?
The same thing has gone on at Putnam for years. These tracks being leased to people who have no credentials, no money, and no business plan. And every time one of these tracks goes back for lease again, fewer fans and racers are coming back. And it makes auto racing in general look more and more like a true group of hicks.
Matt , this is YOUR perfect opportunity to put your “just get sponsors” plan into effect and show everyone how its done…
Track surrounded by sponsor billboards, no back gate fee for racer, no gas, no tires and big purses…
Let’s see whatcha got…I will bring a car to your first event…
You forgot that we are true redneck hicks…we are southern, ya know.
You are funny…pining for a guy named Critter, that you think is ok…then saying other promoters make auto racing look like a bunch of hicks…draw your own conclusion…
Why don’t we get Billy Bob and Gomer?
Maybe you should inform the powers to be, to vet all candidates with more scrutiny…maybe some new thinking is needed…what is their business background? Have they had bankruptcies? Criminal records? I don’t know Maybe the last two left Desoto because something wasn’t working…other than they didn’t get their way. Did they really succeed? I mean they were there and gone…Be careful what you wish for.

Damn, what did you do with your time in school? Sure didn’t didn’t waste it on reading comprehension i see. I don’t say promoters make auto racing look like a bunch of hicks. I say Fair Boards, Airport Authorities, and track owners make auto racing look ridiculous by leasing these tracks to people who obviously have no money, no business model, and no real idea of how to run a race track. I’m a little curious about the lack of vetting too.
Desoto has risen back to where it is with the work of Jimmy Cope and Don Cretty. I know that because Desoto was not even a viable race track until those two went to work. John had beat the place up about as bad as possible. Why they both left, i don’t really know. Lot’s of stories floating around, but not much in the way of facts.
Critter seems to be doing a good job at Auburndale, and i suspect Cope will be back soon at a track near you.

Nope, i’ve changed my mind on all of that. I look around and see the giant car counts, grandstands overflowing every week, more and more new cars coming out each week, and every single racer saying they don’t mind spending a lot to make almost nothing in prize money…and well, i was wrong. I’m not ashamed to say it.
Who needs sponsors??? Who needs lower costs for the racers??? Florida short track racing doesn’t need change.

If Gary would have been properly checked out by the Fair Board, we wouldn’t be in this situation up here.
Sort of like your old mortgage holder Nathan?
