That’s awesome John!
If Bobby attends you will need a place big enough for 8-10 trucks and an autograph table…
It could be like a round table meeting of former track owners? Perhaps we could locate Leroy Davidson, Tom Stimus, and the guys from 3plams?
Yoho & Rex could bring their cones…
Sounds more like Golden Corral all the time.
I was gonna float Hungry Howie’s out there, but yeah, Golden Corral sounds about right. Symbolic of the racing community, a large bacteria fountain, yet we somehow keep coming back for more!
You don’t need an armband.
Of course, they won’t let you bring drinks in, either.
OK have we decided yet where to go, I didn’t think so I am waiting my clock is ticking,we almost have 3000,00 hits not to bad Rick.I’m getting back in shape.
How about next Friday at Geckos in Bradenton but I can afford to pay for myself

I can’t be there, but would love to see the family album afterwards.
And feel free to include a few words of wisdom when you send me a gift certificate for a similar eatery in central fl.
Seriously, if the thing goes down, I wish you guys nothing but laughs and maybe a little positive brainstorming.
So when do people that don’t race anymore but spend way too much money driving long distances to see crappy races get in on this roundtable?I can see already how much paying customers rank up there. And you all need to start facing the fact that if the only people you are concerned with is the active racers you can all have a big picnic together when we all save our money and stay home and watch football instead.I have given up on talking to any track promoter in person at the track they operate because they usually cant get away fast enough when cornered and questioned about anything. It is disheartening in the least and aggravating enough sometimes that I just say the hell with you then why should I come back and spend more money at your place again.I know you all are struggling and I think you all know it too but none of you seem willing to change anything to make it better. And yoho is out of his mind thinking Im going to pay 20 bucks to see 14 late models again, but then again Denny meyer is crazy thinking 8 and 9 car fields in damn near every class is worth 15 bucks.I don’t know why no more cars are showing up at Desoto but it usually comes down to these two things.Money and how the racers are treated. If its not one its the other.
Sounds like you will fit right in at the table.
Zerofor…point well made! Look it’s not just a fan problem, I’m on both side as a driver/owner and a fan. I’m in my mid 40’s and have been involved in racing for half of that. Back in the day at Hialeah Speedway which first exposed me to local racing (which is no more because of land developers, thank you) the TWO main series people came to watch were…guess??? If you say the Super Lates, your wrong, sorry…It was pure stocks and street stocks…why is that…car counts, very simple. Those two divisions packed the house, putting on a WEEKLY “show” with 20+ cars…that’s over 40 cars!! from two affordable divisions. Track owners these days DO NOT GET IT!! If middle-class fans, owners and drivers are the driving force behind local racing, why do they make the rules so far stretched? Because it CATERS TOP THE RICH GUYS that are ruining the sport and think they are the next big thing in NASCAR or want to at least appear that they are by demanding rules changes year after year so they can BUY the most advanced equipment and eventually drive the middle class guy out of the sport or division. HE WHO HAS THE MOST MONEY WINS, period. Well these days, nobody can play that game anymore. For instance, did you know that a competitive open wheel modified will cost you over $25,000 to field, or how about a Super Late Model cost you over $30,000 to field, did you know a Modified Mini Stock costs nearly $15,000 to field, or a Sportsman about $20,000 to field…THAT IS JUST TO REMAIN “competitive”. That doesn’t include all the costs associated with travel, pit passes, tires, fuels, spare parts, replacement parts, maintenance, wrecked race cars, etc…The problem is these track owners/promoters are in bed with “product providers” making certain products “mandatory” in the rules such as bodies like ABC Racing Bodies and other product providers. Another problem is that the rules across the board have become so interchangeable at tracks, that you can take your car and travel track to track and not need to make many changes…track owners thought they were doing drivers a “favor” by doing that, not so much, they only hurt themselves…low car counts. THIS IS NOT A NASCAR TOURING SERIES!! IT IS A LOCAL RACING COMMUNITY THATS NEED TO RE-GROUP AND GET THEIR CRAP STRAIGHTENED OUT or tracks will be closing in the not so distance future. I recently hit a track up to lay out a plan to run a regional tour with mod mini’s in Southwest and Central Florida, similar to the old Florida Mini Stock Challenge, it was very successful. The idea was to draw a field of 20 plus cars and put on a nice show for the fans. I agree, who wants to see 6-8 cars race…As a driver…I want to race against 20 cars, that is a blast! I was told I could not be “in charge” of my own idea, and if I tried, that they would do everything to prevent it. I was told I needed to join “Amway” in order to fund the series and I had to mandate purchases from certain “suppliers”…are you f*^&(& kidding me!!! What a joke, now I know why the sport is taking a nose dive. I’m well aware of how these tracks operate. If the middle-class drives the sport, you track owners and promoters better stop performing cranial colonoscopies and get with it. You’re killing local racing.
No worries.
Like her predecessor, Hillary has said she is going to “help” the middle class…
LMAO Old School…you NEVER cease to amaze me. But to the point you are!
Thx man. If I can bring a little amusement to the day that is a good thing…
Very well put. The classes i ran for years became “support” classes. I even started using the term myself when my last few years i ran in the more “elite” classes. Now I’m a bench racer, actually I’m not even that. Haven’t been to a race since speedweeks…because the weekly shows are not as entertaining.
Benny, you should go to Showtime.
Everytime I go, it is the “last race before the apolypse”.
And you don’t even have to watch the race, Yoho is usually an evening’s entertainment hisself.
The exceptions have been winged sprints. No offense to the track or the participants, but that has been my experience.
Maybe it will be different this weekend. I hope so & I hope it is posted here.
The Eddie Brann race had something going on somewhere every lap, and the ending was one for the books.
Josh done Dickie proud.
