Steve Stanford Passes

Steve Stanford, former owner of the 49 and 69 Inter-Bay Marine cars passed away this morning. Dave Scarborough dominated racing in his cars back in the 1980’s and Johnny Stanford became quite a driver as well in the famous #69 shown in the first photo with Scarborough behind the wheel. Stephen “Steve” Norton Stanford, 75 of Pinellas Park FL passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. He was born on December 4, 1939 to Leland and Doris Stanford. He has one sister Judy Moon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, whom he was married to for over 50 years. His legacy lives on through his two sons, Donny & Johnny Stanford; his daughter Gina Nasse (Married to Jeff Nasse); grandchildren Kristen Nasse Shackelford (married to Brian Shackelford), Nickol Stanford, Whitney Nasse, Stephen Nasse, and JJ Stanford; and great grandchildren Kason and Paxon Shackelford as well as many other close family and friends. Steve was not only a great family man, but also a businessman who started Inter-Bay Marine Construction at the young age of 23. A man with minimal education, grew his company into one of the most successful Marine Construction companies in the area before retiring to spend time traveling with his family. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved racing, hunting, fishing, and airboating. He had a big heart and was known to take care of everyone. He was a wonderful husband, an amazing father, and tender hearted Papa. His services will be held at Moss Feaster Serenity Gardens 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo. The viewing will be on Monday, October 26th from 6-8:00 pm and Memorial service on Tuesday, October 27th at 1:00 pm. Flowers sent to Moss Feaster and/or Donations to the Everglades Foundation in Steve’s name are appreciated.
