In a day where Facebook and Instagram are king. Why are tracks still stuck on they know were here they’ll come. Tracks need to get out and push their product. Tell me why I should come see you rather than them. This isn’t a track bashing post but it is questioning their position on marketing. Why are y’all not going to local business’s and handing out (free) tickets. Or offering up a package deal for families. $35 and $40 dollars is a little steep. Let’s be honest how many people are comfortable letting go of $100 plus dollars just to get in? Lower it to 20-25$ and you’ll get a lot more people in who wouldn’t otherwise be there. Now that their in you make concession sales etc. Offer up a speedweeks package. Buy x amount of tickets get x amount free. I mean if you can’t get more then 3-500 people in the stand from volusia counties 525+ thousand population then there is a problem. Look at retailers . Do they raise their prices for a big sale? No they lower them in hopes you’ll come in a purchase other items in addition to the ones you came for. And for a racetrack it cost you nothing for you to let people in at a lower price. A quick nickel is better than a slow dime. You are not giving away or lowering a price on a physical product so there is no cost to you. But the gain could be huge. You have got to get creative or you’ll be forgotten. Hopefully you track owners or promoters read this. I’d be happy to give you more ideas.
I think that during speedweeks the tracks are seeing a lot of the northern crowd which $35-40 per ticket is a drop in the bucket and already figured into their vacation budget…Even with the cold weather last year,Volusia’s grandstands were packed just about every night,NSS not so much…But I agree in part,$35-40 to get in and $11 for a beer and a bag of peanuts limits most locals to 1-2 speedweek shows.
racer6x you are right .
so correct,
then also realize that the property can be used more than just Saturday nights. Sunday car shows, concerts, garage sale/swap meets…many things can be done to generate
the money needed.
The property must be a full time job not a hobby
They Cant Do That
Come on man, they cant do that. They cant even update there web page,or post a race finish. How would they ever have a car show or anything more. I do remember a time when other things did happen at NSS. Not only that, But I remember racing (2) nites a week there.I also remember the days that if you ran tonite, you got 2 pit passes for tomorrow nite if you pre entered for speedweeks. Yes, I have been here a long time. I sure wish the man in the Green Truck was still around. At one time this was my Dream Track,Now its a sore sight. I miss the days, The nites, the fun times. The nites that you could race at 2 tracks the same nite because the fans cared, the track cared, The man in the Green Truck would shake his head and smile as he seen you pull up at the gate. Oh what a time that was. Just close your eyes and think back to the days when things where grand. Even Ol Hank Williams Jr. did a show there once. Sorry for going on and on.
I am 68 years old and I just spent 8 days on a trip with my 40 something daughter and 23 year old grandson. I am so outdated by both. We who are old still can close our eyes and see the past, hear the engines roar and smell the food and our heads. However, those days are gone and will not return. Remember the past, be thankful you were part of it.
Darren I’m not quite there with you age wise but close enough. But hey old things come back in style sometimes whenever they realize the new thing isn’t all it was thought to be. Let’s just hope its not all the way dead before they try to bring it back around.
