That is pretty amazing Rich. Your level of detail is so far above most of the thinking on this good old board. We are here to complain about non-sense like rain and tech, but you put up thoughtful, well-researched and professional posts. We don’t know what to make of it!

This month marks 2 and 1/2 years of work on the book, and I hope to have it completed by around the end of the summer by writing every day. I hope everyone will enjoy the finished product.

The screenplay is a “based on actual events” storyline, based on the first 3 chapters of the book (already completed).
Don’t be concerned about reading the book and knowing how the screenplay’s storyline ends. That won’t be in the book. Rest assured, you won’t know how that story ends (but I do).

Hey Richard, how are you going to cast the movie? Here are my suggestions for a few of the key, historical roles.
The part of Don Nerone should be played by the late, great Walter Brennan (see photo)
Dave Westerman and “Oldschool+” could be portrayed by the Muppets Statler and Waldorf.
Naturally, the part of Boneman would have to be played by Tom Cruise, or maybe Brad Pitt.

Excellent article on the Tampa connection. Couple of facts I would have like to see included are the fact that the real Governors cup was named in honor of Al Keller who was no slouch in a sprint car himself and was a frequent competitor throughout the state in various classes of cars including NASCAR on the beach and at W. Palm. There is no doubt that Florida was a significant player and continues to be a significant player in sprint car racing and still hosts 3 non-wing events each year.

Sorry, Boneman. Every major character, with the exception of one, is in the 21 to 25 year old age group.
Remember who buys the majority of movie tickets nationwide - it’s that group plus 18-21 yr old males (not Florida, of course, but that’s nationwide numbers).
Hence, we get lots of movies based on comic book characters.

I did write a column on Marty Little after he passed. Even though it didn’t fit in the book, the Facebook page for the book will have “outtakes” for those stories that didn’t make the final edit for the book. I intend to include a reprint of that Marty Little column on that FB page.
