The “original” Florida Governor’s Cup? (Although apparently this was not the first trophy or race event to be so designated)
First awarded to Wayne Reutimann upon winning the Governor’s Cup late model stock car race at Golden Gate Speedway in November 1965. Currently in the possession of New Smyrna Speedway, shown on display at the track in November 2015.

Florida Governor’s Cup trophy, presented by the State of Florida to Benny Parsons for winning the 1975 Daytona 500. Currently in the possession of NASCAR and on display in the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, NC (on loan from Terri Parsons):

We had Buddy Baker’s Governor’s Cup (1980 Daytona 500) on display at the Daytona Archives while Eddie & I were there… Those were pretty simple trophies, but HEAVY!
It’s funny… just Google “Governor’s Cup Race” and see just how many there are in the USA… Other auto races, foot races, boat races, sailing, drag racing, rowing, marathons, even a glider race…
