The Georgia Asphalt Series (GAS) contests its? final 2007 points event at Senoia Raceway Saturday (10/13)

Senoia, GA - The cars and stars of the Georgia Asphalt Series www.georgiaasphaltseries.com headline the huge racing program for the 1st Annual ?Georgia 250? on Saturday October 13th at Senoia Raceway (www.newsenoiaraceway.com) Approximately 30 drivers from across the Southeast are expected to enter the final G.A.S. points event of the 2007 season at the historic 3/8 mile paved oval located approximately three miles West of Senoia on Georgia Highway 16. The ?Georgia 250? features over 250 laps of racing in one action-packed evening including the 100-lap feature race for the Georgia Asphalt Series (GAS) plus 150+ laps of Championship races in the Speedway?s three popular stock car divisions, the Iceman Late Models, Sportsman and Mini Stock.

Local favorites include Bubba Pollard who was the Senoia Raceway 2002 Late Model track Champion. The twenty year-old Pollard finished in the runner-up position in the 2007 GAS Spring 100 at Senoia on April 28th. Pollard was also the runner-up in the 2006 Georgia Asphalt Series point standings. He is currently ranked in sixth in the 2007 standings. Pollard is the driver most familiar with the track that is located just ? mile from his house. Pollard?s Grandfather, Hence Pollard built the Senoia Raceway.

Another local favorite and Southern short-track racing legend, Ronnie Sanders from Fayetteville who finished third in the 2006 GAS point standings is also entered. Sanders has accumulated over 500 career short rack wins and is known throughout the Southeast. He will be part a four-car team from the South Metro coming to the speedway on Saturday. The team includes Ronnie Kittle from Watkinsville, and his 16 year-old son Zac Kittle plus Sanders own son, veteran racer Ricky Sanders from Stockbridge.

Current series points leader Russell Fleeman from Dacula with five wins on the season and 2006 Champion, Fredrick Moore from Gainesville are both entered as is sixteen year-old young gun Michael Pope from Dublin, Georgia who has one feature win with the series this season already. Taylor Satterfield from Commerce, Georgia won the April 28th Georgia asphalt Series race at Senoia Raceway and is an expected entry for this event. Local drivers Roger Delp from Newnan and Marci Bristol from Sharpsburg should also add local interest to the event while racing in the Iceman division.

Saturday?s event at Senoia Raceway is the seventh of eighth special events scheduled at the track this season. The final event the ?Turkey Bowl? 2007is tentatively scheduled for the Saturday following Thanksgiving on November 24th . That event will tentatively include the O?Reilly United Sprint Car Series winged outlaw sprint cars plus Iceman, Sportsman and Mini stock in the 1st Annual Turkey Bowl Championships.

Pit gates open this Saturday for the Georgia Asphalt Series competitors at 11:00 am. Pit gates open for the competitors in the other three racing divisions at 3:00 pm. Practice for the Georgia Asphalt Series will be from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The three Senoia Raceway divisions will then have two rounds of practice from 4:00 pm until 5:30 pm. The GAS series cars and Iceman Late Models will time trial qualify for two laps per car starting at 6:00 pm. Racing action begins at 7:00 pm.
