Dorothy Hall is well known to many within the ranks of procup racing. In fact she is well respected in the racing community because of her dedication to independent driver Joe Harrison. Hall has spotted or scored for Harrison for years.
However this past Saturday night at Tri County Speedway, Hall was relieved of her duties as spotter. Well sort of.
Jody Harrison, son of Joe, was making only his second racing start ever. He needed his dad to spot for him to call all the shots. And it was Joe who needed to be on the radio with his son to help sooth and calm him down as he too was a bag of nerves.
But Hall was greatly needed elsewhere. Since she has so much experience in scoring she was asked by promoters to be the head scorer for the Old School procup race and the Enduro race. She even was behind the keyboards of the tracks scoreboard. She was seen several times keeping up with Jody Harrisons progress in the 50 lap event.
But dont think for one moment that Hall is in pursuit of Procup Scorer Danielle Colliers job. “This job aint for me” Hall says.
And she was absolutely frustrated in keeping up with the Enduro cars that raced for 150 laps with no cautions. Only two cars were on the lead lap at the end. The third place car, a cab not a race car, was two laps down.
Hall was one of several volunteers who are helping get the yet to be named Old School procup cars on its feet.
Sitting beside Hall and a scorer herself is Mart Nesbitts mom, Alma.
Joe Harrison hopes to be in this series next year so Hall will be back in her regular job.
