NSS Crate LM vs LM

So, what is the difference between the crate LM and the regular LM? I know the crate implies a crate motor, but I always assumed they ended up being about the same performance-wise with the other rules for the LM’s. I know the SLM’s are different.

Are the chassis spec’ed out the same?

I guess I am wondering if they will be running together for Speedweeks, I am assuming not at this point, but it would be a good way to get a bigger field.

The Crate lm is an asa type car that is a full tube chassies with 400 hp the lm is a clip car some still use a sealed motor but they have more hp

The crate lates are basically SLM with a crate motor and weigh 2700 lbs. THe crate motors have about 410-425HP. (the legal ones anyway). THe LLM are stock clip, now fab clip with stock lowers and have either a 2 barrell motor or a Fascar SPEC motor. They have to weigh 2900lbs. They have approx 485HP.
They actually run pretty close times but a crate LM will still have a hard time passing a LLM because of the HP difference. All in all on a typical Sat night at NSS they can be competetive and even win. On a short track like Orlando or Auburndale they are very competitive.

Thanks, that clarifies it.
