Racing T-Shirts

The other thread about Volusia got me thinking…What’s your favorite racing t-shirt that you own? And what’s your oldest racing t-shirt?

My favorite is a tie between the Bubba the Love Sponge sprinter with Hulk Hogan on it and my Buckeye Bullet Dave Blaney Ford sprinter t-shirt (95 WoO champ).

My oldest is probably my Sammy Swindell TMC t-shirt. I think my dad’s oldest is either a Robby Stanley or Bobby Allen t-shirt he got at Volusia around 88 or 89.

Can’t even begin to count how many I actually have in the closet.

My favorite shirt is my Al Unser/Johnny Lightning Special dirt car shirt. It’s a recent production, but has the old-time look.

My oldest… ? Hmmmmm. Maybe my Red Stauffer Valvoline shirt. The (ex) wife got a Taylor Andrews shirt the same day.

My favorite is my Greg Hodnett Apple #12 sprint car t-shirt from like six years ago.

Oldest? If crew shirts count I’ve got a Stroh’s Light crew shirt from the IMSA GTO Roush Cougar team.

10 years ago I bought a Tammy Jo Kirk t-shirt for my daughter. She has passed it on to her little brothers who still wear it around.

Yesterday, my two youngest were allowed to wear a sports t-shirt on top of their school uniforms. My boys went to pre-K and to Kindergarten wearing identical Jack Haudenschild, #35 shirts. The only ones in school!

Mine favorate one is my '07 edition ASA Dustin Dunn tee shirt but I am still a little partial to my Martin Co. Kartway shirt that say’s “alcohal and speed, the ingrediance for a great weekend” although the school told my son he in not alowed to ware it anymore.

Racing T -Shirts

I have a 1986 World of Outlaws, hooded sweat shirt, and this cool Supermodified T- Shirt, around 1976

Too funny…

Hey Rex…I picked up a Tammy Jo Kirk pink T-shirt at Pensacola the year after she won the Snowball…had to bring something home for the wife and it was in the markdown rack…lol

She still wears it as a nightshirt once in a while…she has no idea who TJK is (or was) and cares even less why she merited a T-shirt with her name on it, but she sez it’s comfortable…go figure…

Never had a favorite shirt (they all became work shirts after a while anyways) but my favorite JACKET was my shiny green HRE (Howe) cold weather jacket. I wore out mine AND the one I got for my Dad…still have it somewhere…
OJ

My favorite…hmmmm…

My oldest is my Howe Racing Enterprises pocket-T. Green with the white lettering. Bought it at Volusia when Speedweeks was pavement up there in about '89 or so I guess.

Sheesh…my current favorite is my “Mean Machine” Dale Earnhardt Sr. shirt.

Years ago, I had a “1978 World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing, New Smyrna Speedway” t-shirt that I wore absolutely everywhere…

two shirts hopefully pictures will show up.the j.w. hunt $110,000 spectacular.three races palm beach, sunshine, and new smyrna.this shirt has survived three hurricanes in my moms flooded garage.
number two ,superman rodney combs.got from volusia 84-85(?).

Oldest : 1977 Fla. Sprint Nationals, Brad Doty/Bowers Coal & Kenny Jacobs/Reno’s Rocket.
Favorite : Opp/Bogar99
last count was over 150 different sprint car shirts

My favorite is an 88 Syracuse WoO sweatshirt I bought my 2 year old son. My wife still has it packed away somewhere. My personal favorite was a Billy Decker shirt with Wheel’s sponsorship. I’m like OJ though. I wear them out as work shirts. My kids use to collect shirts from soccer tournaments they played across the country. My Mother-in-law made a quilt out of them as a graduation present. Really neat idea and they love them. She’s been asked to make others by people that saw them. I think that would be a neat idea for racing shirts as well. However, I don’t think my son would ever part with his Dale Earnhardt shirts to make a quilt. He idolized him and was devastated by his death.

gotta be an old ascot shirt i have somewhere, and a brad noffsinger shirt. wonder if anybody’s ever done an art gallery showing of racing teeshirt art? i’d go see that.

I love the J.W. Hunt t-shirt. I had a Davey Hamilton super modified I got out in Idaho. Wore everywhere until the fishing hook got it…Keep them coming.

Now I’m thinking I need to get me a couple of AJ Foyt t-shirts. And I sure would love to find a Jan Opperman (the Original Outlaw) shirt too.

I’m with USA1Bowtie, when Foyt calls you “The Man” enough said.

The T-shirt Billy Moyer gave me last year at the Colossal 100. 2 wins and a second at the Bay and it aint over yet.
