Beat this Boneman!

Im driving on the clouds.

I couldn’t get this to play for some reason.

Look out global warming might have you swimming with the fishes.

You probably have to update your quicktime player. It is in MP4

DON’T DO IT Boneman!

Quicktime - most likely video player to contain keyloggers and trojans. Known to plant spyware on your computer.

Tied with REAL PLAYER for this honor!

Norton AV scans my system every week, do I still have to worry about upgrading Quicktime?

Signed,
Concerned

Heck no. most websites are programmed to use quick time. As long as you have a good firewall, and good virus program there is no problems. My brother uses it for what he does for a living.

Infact Im not sure where you heard this. Quicktime is an Apple associated program, along with Itunes. Apple has the BEST track record for programs and computers being not easily corrupted. My g/f has an apple computer with no virus protection, and yet is has never had any. The reason for this is most all virus writers are 14 year old kids with too much free time. These are not the type to have a $2,100 Mac. They are using PC’s and 99% of all viruses are not compatable with Apple computers or software

I do not use Internet Explorer for the same reasons. It is horrible for virus transmission. Even worse than unprotected sex in bithlo. I use firefox and have no trouble anymore.

IE is also bad. I use Firefox.

Macs are not immune to spyware. Apple may make some good software but iTunes and Quicktime DO NOT fall in this category.

I had to reformat a hard drive last year because of Quicktime - Apple’s track record is not the best, not at all! Where did you get that? They are even behind Microsoft - don’t go by what you read on an apple website.

If you are a sucker that bought a Mac then you have my condolences. I am a “detox’d” Mac user. I got tired of paying 3 times as much for accessories, and staring at that Sad Mac face.

There are some serious problems at Microsoft as well (Vista - need I say more?) but I still don’t put Apple ahead of them.

Why is Mac stuff so more expensive? Probably to pay all those lawyers that are suing microsoft all the time.

OK sorry for the nerd post - forgive me

Oh by the way I do not post “things I’ve heard.”

If I put up an opinion it’s from firsthand experience. Otherwise I keep my mouth shut.

Before I was in the aviation business I spent 10 yrs as a EE for various computer software/hardware firms. I became addicted to Macs in the late 80s.

Recently I had to buy two Mac graphics processors for our girls in the Graphics Department because “everyone knows that Macs are better for graphics.”

So we spent $9600 to buy two fancy Macs, I can’t remember the model right now.

What program do they use all the time? PHOTOSHOP! And they spend most of their time on the PC’s converting file formats.

Nope, I’m not a Mac guy any more. SORRY.

I sound bitter and I am - I apologize, but I got burned.

Funny thing is you are the only person I have ever heard have a bad thing to say about a Mac. Ever. I live 45 minutes from one of the most well know art schools in the country. Savannah College of Art and Design. 99% of the students there use Mac computers and have never heard one bad thing from any of them. (My girlfriend is a SCAD graduate). Apple is the most commonly used computer in the graphic design industry. Many factors play into this, ease of use, software.

One reason a Mac costs more is the fact that it comes standard with more software than any PC. Buy a $500 PC and you get a computer that you can play solitaire on, and surf the internet. Buy a $1,800 Mac and get a computer that can go straight to work. Oh yeah, and that same computer wont be outdated in 4 months. Many Mac computers go 5 or more years before software compatability with the old platforms are a problem. I dont know what Mac you paid over 4 grand for. The IMac is a 1,100 computer. for an extra 500 you can get tons of bells and whistles. And that computer will dang sure outperform any PC i have ever see. Even her Macbook was only 1,300. I use it at her house to do the vinyl lettering for my cars. I too use adobe programs, Illustrator more than photoshop though. I dont know why you say they have to convert files, for years now Mac and Pc adobe programs are cross platform. I can create a document on my pc and open it on her mac and vice versa. Sounds like someone doesnt have an up to date program on one of their computers.

Call tech support for any PC computer and you will get Samir in Saudi Arabia.
Call tech support for Apple and you get people that actually speak english as a first language, and are actually knowledgeable in computers, and are not depending on reading a flow chart.

I do like Mac features, don’t get me wrong. They are very attractive machines with a lot of cool stuff, but they are not cost effective for a business environment.

It just bothers me that we spent over 20 grand for 2 computers, this huge Mac compatible scanner, plate printer and graphics software, and what program do they use? Photoshop - which is identical to the PC program.

LOL

Yet they do similar to what I did when I was a Macaholic, and what I hear from you, they will defend to the death how great their Macs are.

By the way, the reason I believe Macs are used more in education and graphics industry is because years ago Apple came up with a brilliant marketing program, they gave away or offered huge discounts on Macs to students and colleges.

I think they still do it.

There is definitely a transition from Mac to PC, and even though I now feel PCs are more intuitive and easier to use, there was a long time I thought PCs were stupid and Macs were easier.

I by no means am not a macaholic, lol. I am on a PC right now. Its all I have ever used. I didnt know anything about Mac’s untill my current girlfriend. I still dont exactly know what to do without 100 icons on the desktop to sift through. :aetsch013: My favorite quality about the Imac, and this one quality alone has me sold on one when i replace this dinosaur, is the fact that you plug a keyboard and mouse into a screen and away you go. No more stinking tower to take up half the computer desk.

I will give you the fact that the 400 dell from wally world is sufficient for 95% of business applications. I still contend that the mac is a superior computer for any kind of graphic work, (until you get to CG rendering like the video in the link my brother made, then you need about 5 PC’s hooked together to make things happen). There is just something about the Mac that makes saving and accessing files a ton easier. Oh and getting a hold of the bootleg adobe products is easier for a Mac. I dont know why, but it is.

The Mac Adobe versions are available at a ridiculously low price to anyone with a Student ID.

I see more graphics-video rendering going on now using PCs and 3DS-Max. Maybe because it is 1/3 the price?

I heard the Mac needed over 60 unnecessary upgrades before it could be integrated into the Orange County School System…

I read it in some computer journal I found in the doctor’s office…

That is all terrific. I still can’t see the video.

Hey John, you are coming to the kart party, right?
