Blewett Wins on night 6

Jimmy Blewett won a 50 lap race when he really needed it. The race was a memorial race, named after his brother who was tragically killed last year in a racing accident in Thompson Ct. In fact Jimmy was involved in that same crash.
Jimmy Blewett was very emotional after leading the whole 50 lap memorial at the World Series of Asphalt Racing being held at New Smyrna Speedway in Florida.
Ted Christopher, who will race anything on wheels, came home second followed by Bobby Grigas, Ronnie Silk (driving for Hillbilly Racing) and former Hillbilly driver Chuck Hossfeld.
Blewett also finished third in the SK modified race.
The only Whelen Southern Modified entry, Andy Seuss, continues to struggle from problems came home 20th.
The World Series concludes Friday night with the Richie Evans Memorial 100.
If your a ProCup fan, Derrick Kelley picked up his second straight win in the limited late model division. Kelley also takes over the points standings lead in that division.
Logan Ruffin, a thirteen year old kid, won for the second time in the series in the crate late model race. Ruffin was just on the radio show Real Racin USA has now become the sentimental crowd favorite.
In that same race, former Pro Cup driver Jimmy Lang came home third after having to send for parts from his South Carolina home.
In the Florida modified division 50 lap race, former regular Bobby Joe Woodley came home ninth in that race.
New Smyrna was once a stop on the Hooters Series tour.
Pulling double duty at this track is flagman Rusty Crews who also flags in the Pro Cup Series.
One could almost bet that retired official Fritz “Pops” Augustine is not playing golf down in Speedweeks right now.:grinser010:
