Super late models back at CCMP
Short track race fans at Charlotte County Motorsports Park are in for a special treat this Saturday night.
The big boys are in Punta Gorda as the first of six Super Late Model races in
2008 will take to the 3/8-mile paved oval for a 100-lapper.
We’re talking about big guns like Wayne Anderson, Steve Dorer, Wayne Morris,
Jonny Kay, Kevin Macy and Ray and Perry Lovelady, just to name a few.
There is a truckload of other action – and we mean that literally – as
Fastrucks and Thunder Trucks are on the schedule.
If that wasn’t enough, there’s also Road Warriors, Pro 4, Fab 4, Legends and
Bandoleros.
The Road Warriors will race in remembrance of Dan Benoit, a driver who passed away last week.
A TRIBUTE to a REAL short tracker Dan Benoit this weekend at CCMP.
Dan was one of the true Short Tracker (RACERS) I have even seen. This weekend
races will be in memory of Dan and his passion for the sport. His service will be Sunday at 2:00 PM
at his home. On Saturday Night we will have Dan FEARED #20 Chevy ROAD WARRIOR
will be placed behind the CCMP center piece at the “WINNERS Circle”. During the
Salute to the FAN’s" for the Super Late Models. The #20 Chevy will be pulled in
the “WINNER CIRCLE” (were he ended the sat nights more than any other that have
ever raced at Charlotte). You will be able to come see up close and see the REAL
MANs “Dan Benoit” Short Track’s ride.
We have a full schedule for the nights and it is all going to be dedicated in
memory of “The TRUE Short Tracker” Dan Benoit.
Hope to see you there.
Bobby Diehl
PS: We will miss the MAN, but he will NEVER be forgotten!
Icing on the cake is a “Run what you brung” Figure 8 EXPO.

Saturday night races begin at 6 p.m. The front gates open at 4 p.m. Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and $5 for children 6 to 11.
