New pit rules over the top?

CCMP’s new pit rules no water, no food, coolers searched, no cooking in pits.
It seems to me that they are trying to extort more money from the racers
than the are trying to put buts on the boards.
CCMP already charges more than every one else for entrys, pit pass, parking
ect.ect. And they change payoffs every race.
Don,t know what thier problems are but sqeezing every dollar out of the racers is not the answer.
Seems to me desoto tried this and went from 20-30 latemodel field to a 8-12
car field.

If Tom77 has relayed the new rules accurately, then I would expect it to be a disaster for the track. If I want stress and aggravation, then I’ll try to get on an airplane, or maybe do my taxes. Racenights are for fun, not to be micromanaged.

I took this info from thier message board.
Tom s.

if everybody stuck together and just dont show up , they will get the message . the racers hold all the cards , not the track . just another track that doesnt care about the racer , just their profits .

What does

that George Bush billboard and Sunshine Speedway have in common. “Miss me yet!”

This is on CCMP’s board. I don’t think it is to unreasonable.

DRIVER AND RACE TEAMS

We are asking you help support CCMP with this rule the track is a business and has to make a profit so we can not let people just bring in what they want into the pits this can not be done at any other sport event.

I aggree!

I don’t think its unreasonable at all. If you saw some of the people drinking in the pits you’d understand. I for one wouldn’t want to get on the track with a drunk or druggy. They said water and Gator aid or things like that is ok, but that they will be selling water and Ice this year. Bob…

new rules

greed is why i quit going to the races. now i sleep through nascar.

Not that I personally do it, but people that drink in the pits are going to find a way to do it. Search all you want, they will find a way.

Not allowing food in, thats BS! Are you guys Nazi’s? Are you going to sick the Gestapo on me because I smuggled in a $1 double cheeseburger from McDonald’s?
I won’t deprive my team from water or soda. With the prices CCMP charges for entry, water should be free.

$30 per person in the pits is insane, then you throw the pit slab fee in… COME ON MAN… I won’t make that trip

LOL, VERY FUNNY!

ATTENTION - ATTENTION - ATTENTION

Would the Security man from NSS (you know the one with the pepper spray) please report to the S/W corner of the Pits… it has been reported some people there have some chips and dip “IN THEIR PIT”,

“You Have Been Warned”, "Stand by for a “SPRAYIN”.

BUT, if you or a member of your pit crew do happen to get pepper sprayed… we sell water here at the track - ice too!

Ain’t dat just amazing!

I raced at NSS last week and it was $35 to get in the pits.

That was only for speedweeks, its usually $25 to get in without a Fascar license and $20 with. To me, this is fair but still cannot afford to bring anyone else in every week.

bottom line is , racing is supposed to be fun , a family sport . when you take that away , you have empty pits and grandstands . this isnt about stopping beer in the pits , its all about making a profit from food and drink sales . anybody who would charge for a pit slab is an idiot . first come , first serve . this crap is why short track racing in florida is dying , nothing but a bunch of greedy people running these tracks that dont care about the racer . sugarcoat it all you want , we know better .

Straight Up I may not know you but I sure agree with you.
Tom S.

For one year, we did rent our pit slabs at Orlando but it was a mess. We had Friday shows and Saturday shows and when the Saturday people would race on Friday nights and their slabs had the Friday night people on them, well, it was no fun. So after that year, we did not even try that again.

I totally agree with the beer part in the pits but it is a hard thing to stop. You can check all the coolers but if they want to bring beer in, somehow they will do it no matter what you do. But as long as there is no drinking during racing and they wait until everything is over, that is okay. There were alot of cups floating around though that you knew was not coffee but most of the time it was a non-racer with them.

As for no food in the pits of bbq, well, sometimes that is the only way people get to eat because they just don’t really have the money to buy track food. Back in the era when my family raced, we brought our grill alot and cooked hamburgers and hot dogs so the kids could eat. We could afford that and afford to get in the pits but just didn’t have alot of extra money for buying the track food. But I am not so sure that I agree with forcing people to buy the track food at all. Part of the fun in racing is those bbqs at the track with your friends.

A few years back, I had a friend who raced at Desoto and he was eating a piece of Kentucky Fried Chicken and he said it was taken out of his hand and thrown in the garbage and he was told that was not allowed. I don’t agree with that at all. You can’t nickel and dime the drivers too death or they will just plain stop coming and we have seen that. It makes more sense to let them bbq and bring their food and they may even bring more people in the pits for the bbq.

But we are not track owners therefore we have no say in what a track does or does not do. You can suck it up and go or get mad and not go. It is all up to each individual.
