bathrooms, Boneman and the RPM Workshop

I SWEAR to you that the following is true. I almost fell off my chair when it happened.

Adam Nelson of Meridian Speedway was assisting Stewart Doty in conducting the workshops. I was sitting in on one “Survival Strategies”, a class designed for turning around struggling operations.

Toward the end of this session, the presenters were discussing the importance of physical plant cleanliness and improvements. As it wrapped up, Adam reminded everyone that New Smyrna and Volusia were racing that night, and that the promoters would be welcomed at no charge.

Then it happened. Adam Nelson said, “I’m going to New Smyrna, and I’ll be checking out the condition of their bathrooms.” See? See? I’m not the only one! This was from an award winning pro!

Thanks goodness, I bet Mr. Nelson would be pleased with what he found. There is an array of new, fully stocked soap dispensors at New Smyrna! Good job to the NSS crew! If I go back tomorrow, I’m gonna have to ask that guy what he thought.

I hope his bathroom experience was pleasurable.

THE POINT IF HE WASENT HE WOULD NOT POST IT ON HERE FOR EVERY ONE TO SEE. dont go they have dirty bathrooms) DA!!
Sence the board has been waging FASCAR tracks tail the car counts and the crouds have been soring down to an all time low. Most of the track in florida are recovering. Are you are happy now.

don62

we have you all beat!

Punta Gorda Speedway has to have the cleanest restrooms anywhere. Melanie scrubs after each person leaves. has sprays and always keeps up with toilet paper and towels. it smells clean and immaculate!
YAHOOOO Mel!

Boneman and now NSS get it!

Example: My wife refuses to eat at McDonalds, bathrooms usually dirty, good chance of no soap, no toilet paper or no towels to dry your hands. By the way, if you can’t wash your hands, the person who is touching your burger cannot either.
On a trip to FLA or NC or anywhere in GA, if there is a Chick-Fil-et, we will stop there. Why? Clean restrooms, toilet covers, soap, towels and even hand sanitizer.

When we race at Lanier Speedway, the 1st report I get back from my wife are the bathroom conditions.

Racetracks have to figure out if they are in the entertainment business or are they a Middle Eastern owned gas station on I-75.

Good job listening to your customers New Smyrna Speedway!

ok now the bathrooms problems are fixed. I guess promoters can expect to double their car counts.

I guess promoters can expect to double their car counts.
Ah! A brilliant grasp of the issues!

the car counts and the crouds have been soring down to an all time low

Nice try Don. I am hardly the problem.

NSS is at the east of I-95, not I-75, :sprachlos020:, Im way over here 5miles from I-75, 20 miles from East-Bay raceway. Pretty soon, or not East-Bay may-be closing or what. I just dont see why, Everybody make differant comment or question about East-Bay, one say, tires reason for not paying Hooiser, and other say, loan om track or something. What going on?

Most of you think were talking about bathrooms!!! you dont get it. Carl said we have the cleanest bathrooms. good a pos. post. Rex made a neg. post.
I get it and im not to egamacated…
Rex did u get it yet…don62

La Don…

i have to disagree with you on this one. there is nothing more disgusting than a dirty bathroom. who wants to sit on a toilet that hundreds of ppl sit on and drip etc. UGHHHHHHH…
rerx was correct in saying something so the tracks dont think its ok… they need to make sure the bathrooms are clean and sanitary for health sake…
we are just so fortunate to have a person who cares about her job…
you can stand up and aim. we have to sit. makes a world of difference…lol
maybe its the meds youre on…not thinking clearly today?
luv to ya my friend…

Bathrooms are an indication about how customers are treated in a business. In the racetrack business, customers also demand speakers that work, concessions that are clean and serve quickly, a friendly staff and even a working scoreboard.

IMHO bathrooms are the most important item on this list. Consider this: I raced at a dirt track for 4 years, but my wife refused to return there after her first visit. In fact, she didn’t even stay for the whole event. Why? The bathrooms were disgusting and she would have nothing to do with them.

Believe me, I’d rather be talking about engines, rules and inspectors, but this is important to the race track business so you can try to belittle me all you want. I know I am right.

OZ Rex and everyone else you didnt get it… real slow dont post things wrong with your track here it doese not help…
Dont post that crap.
Other people read this crap and dont go to the races…
Go ask them for some ope the forgot.
Don62

Posting what is wrong with tracks would help if the tracks cared enough to then fix the problem.

Don, you are over-estimating, by a mile, the influence of message boards like these. I completely reject your idea that tracks are suffering because some of us point out what we think is wrong. Tracks are hurting for lots of other reasons, not because of me.

If I get on here and tell the KARNAC readers, no more than a couple of hundred of them spread across the state, what needs attention at a particular track, I guarantee you that my opinions will not convince anyone to change their racing plans. Fans and racers are influenced by travel time, weather, expense, show quality, fairness, atmosphere and entertainment value, but not by some poster on a message board.

BTW, constructive critism can be a benefit to any business. You can hear destructive critism on this board, but you do not hear it from me. You and I trade barbs, but I know it is nothing real. In fact, if you are paying attention, I only pick on people I like.

swallow my pride!!

I admit, I hate to agree with Boney, But my friend you ae fighting a losing battle, sorry. I mean look at the ants that constantly crawl all over the concession stands. (sorry Prof McKinley if I spell wrong) ANY other eating establishment would be closed down. Employees handling food with no gloves, no hair nets. Personally I don’t really care, their hands are probably cleaner than mine. I was told by a former employee at NSS mr. Hart might be willing to work something out for professional pest control at NSS (OSW) was too far. This employee said Mr Hart owned several homes etc as well as the track. I offered to do this on a weekly basis at all his homes and track for 2 pit passes a week!! It was shot down. This time of yr the ants etc wont be too bad, its too cold but wait till next summer. Can anyone tell me how many diseases ant and roaches carry? As of 20 yrs ago the State had determined roaches carry 15 known diseases. They are revergating all over your food. But still for 2 pit passes a week Pest Control was refused. Remember, many weeks during the summer pit passes are $20. So Boney, I offered basically free pest control, My wife wont go in the pit area and its a fight to get her in the stands because ou bugs and filth. Do you really think you’re gonna change the bathrooms?? Time will tell. Oh, P.S. this is why most of the guys are going behind their haulers.
and even a working scoreboard.
I was so into the ACT race that I didn’t realize the score board was working until the race was almost over. The announcer was telling me everything I wanted to know. I found that if the racing is good, you pay attention to that and not anything else.

i think auburndale has some pretty clean bath rooms in pits

one night i was standing in line to use the john = now the guy in front of me never put the seat up and he was just spraying all over the seat and walls and the floor ; i could not help my self i asked m-f- are you drunk if you are that short why don’t you use that 200,000 motor home you are riding in

he never said a word i was waiting for an excuse so the next time i had to p i filled up a gator ade bottle and walked over and poured it in his drivers seat and on his fire suit top

bet time the race was over he will raise the lid and aim little better next time

ANY other eating establishment would be closed down
Here is an example of destructive critism. Just because they didn’t accept your offer in the past, you now imply that they are bug infested. The fact is, you don’t know if they have a pest control service or not.

You also mention gloves, hair nets, etc… You may have a valid point there, but look how it is presented: it came with a bucket load of accusations and personal attacks. It won’t get any attention that way.

Enough for now. Speedweeks is my favorite time of the year, and I am spending the rest of the week concentrating on having fun at the tracks!
