A little Monday morning quarter-backing…

I heard last nights show on the History Channel, featuring Larry the Cable Guy at Crash A Rama, reflected very well on Speedworld. Wouldn’t it have been a good idea to make the screening of the show an event for the racers? It could have been a good pre-season pep talk, and a chance to do some prep work like licenses, maybe make some announcements, and of course have lots of food and drink. Hold the event in the bowling alley that sponsors the track, or anywhere where they serve food and have big TV’s.

It couldn’t hurt to build some community for a track that has sat nearly silent for months.

I know, I know, this idea is two months too late, but it would be neat if stuff like this actually originated from the track.

Was–

this not the true happinings of Crash-O-Rama, or what!

Orlando Speedworld, and the constant segment shots of the outside cement retaining wall of the same, promoting the name: ORLANDO SPEEDWORLD- littered throughout the 20 min. segment.

I am not the biggest of fans for these types of events anymore: I was back then, when I took my and the neighbohood kids out to these events, once or twice for these silly races or so, years ago. Good times were had by all at these events. Yessirree.

But, Daniel did an OK job of puting himself in the center of attention, which is the way the show is shown, and the way it should be. It is afterall, his show.

And that’s cool, as the last best publicity from this Raceway is/was the Rusty Marcus Promo in the Orlando Sentinal, promoting OSW in a big ol’ story in the local newspaper. Good reading. And in it was the story that OSW, was in it’s last days…NOT…but things will change, for sure.

The TV segment also featured MOE, who sure likes to say “absolutely” alot. And a host of other fine fellows who showed Daniel what the Crash-a-Rama Show was all about, and how it works. For a first-time TV watcher, I am sure that they, and the TV world, were informed quite well.

I thought it was pretty darn cool, to see ORLANDO SPEEDWORLD on so many TV shots, and National attention too. Nice job.

and he doesn’t drink beer, that’s alright.

Mike, thanks for the link.

The ole’ track looked pretty good on that show. Its funny how they edited around the 3 hour monsoon that interupted (but didn’t end) that version of the Crash A Rama series.

I suggest that we coin a new phrase for anytime that someone drives to the back of the pits and knocks out their windows with a hammer. This act should be forever known as a “Trocki”. By the way Jason, those of us who sometimes show up a little late and have to park out back in the broken glass, will always think of you.

I got a kick out of Fordzilla; he was in full mullet mode for his interview!

And if anyone needs photos I will make them available on my website (only race I can remember that was not a Jim Jones photo deal). Speedworld also got some coverage from this event in Car and Driver magazine a few months back talking about Bomb.
Sorry to high jack the thread sort of… Send me a message if you need the website.

Its good to see Osw get the attention but I am not sure this is the attention it needed. I was a big fan of these events until I found out how disrespectful, uneducated and possibly inbred some of these people are. Some of the “big name” drivers were smoking dope, drinking beer and then participating in the events. Its only a matter of time.
