as far as the engine restrictors go on the spec motors i think and let me make sure everyone understands THIS IS MY OPINION that for the health of weekly late model racing tracks are going to have to combine pro, limited, and supers and come up with rules such as the f-up series. don’t get me wrong i love the supers, even though i think they should be like the outlaw cars up north 1 carb, tread width and 3 body rules, but to see full fields of cars something will have to be changed.

we were one of the cars wanting to go to the 8 inch tires on the sportsman cars but we were also told they would last half of a season which we all know did not happed. i’ve heard that the set up on the car has to be changed for these tires. that is crap it’s hard to take a good handling winning car and change the set up! we were all just sold a tire that has not lived up to expectations or done what we were told it would do!
give me acouple of weeks i can’t get a open motor mod but i might put a set of 10 inch slicks on an e-mod just to see how much faster they are.
Rusty, I may try it in a week or 2 if I can come up with a decent set. The ones I have are a little old. I understand about the restrictions on the engines, but they don’t do that during regular weekly shows. They have 2 classes, remember. It’s just the series, FUPS, or special events they run the combined stuff. So how much difference have you seen on a “Spec” engine on a 750 vs. a 390? Want to see if we are on the same page # wise.
Slicks again huh… I have made every citrus race and yes they did have 21 cars the other week. I also raced at P.G. almost every race this year. Citrus has a great car count and I think 15 is the smallest field this year. The biggest field that P.G. has had is I think 14. And its growing… What people here have failed to state was P.G. is on slicks…goodyear 8" Citrus has been discussing slicks as well. This grooved tire wich i like to call a ( trailor tire ) but I like airplane too… Has not been what was promised. they were supposed to save us money. They were supposed to be cheaper and last longer. All i will say to that is strap on your three race tires and come run us at citrus. Im willing to bet even if your fast you will be a few tenths off. I personally want to try my hand at fascar tracks and eventually will. I love the idea of 10" slicks but not sure if our stock spindles can handle them at those speeds and G’s. I dont no. The E mod class may be a great class…actually what the mods were designed for ECONOMY. But they also are just another change in rules …motors ECT. Make all open wheel modifieds the same engine rule…chassis rule…and tire rule and then the teams could actually afford or at least make it easy to come to different tracks…JMO
Ware Did Anyone Get That Mods Were Econ Card They Are The Oldest Class In Nascrap And Never Ment To Be Cheap The Rar And Ment To Be All Out Race Cars Nothing Elce They Need To Be On Slicke Wether It Be 8 ,10 Or 14’s Mods Are Racecars Now If You Want To Have A Emod Class Ok That Can Be A Starting Point For Some One But For The Fans And The Racer We Want Real Ground Powing Mids The Real Thing Will Only Do So Lets Get It Right Mods On Slicks They Are Better And Last Longer If You Work On Your Car And Geting It Working Right That Is The Fun Of This Whole Thing Is Working It To Get It Better To Win And Show Off Your Hard Work
That Is All I Have To Say Let Them Race For Real!!!

23NY, In the northeast mods were built to be all out race cars. They still are. In most of the country the mods are different and are really not the same beast that you’re probably familiar with. I’d love to see the “tour” type modifieds in Florida but there are already too many classes here. Now they’ve added the e-mods to dilute it more. Something will have to give someday. Really the decision does need to be made to determine if they should be “all out race cars” or an “economy class”.
Well duh, it’s a FASCAR class. It’s FASCAR’s idea, FASCAR’s tracks, so I guess if someone wants to race an emod they will have to come to a FASCAR track. It’s not for everyone across the country or even the state of Florida. It’s a FASCAR concept and it’s successful.
I hope they give the slicks back to the modifieds. The bigger the better.
I am for all out racecar they are much better to watch then supers ,but that is just how I feel and it is cheper to make body panel then have to got get them from 5 star not that i am saying mod’s are cheaper just easer to make parts plus all the cars don’t look the same not all white or black cars like it is with thr ABC bodys I guess you can say I want my mods with big moters and fast…

Nice polite answer to a legitimate question. Actually, NFS started the class last year, before FASCAR, but that is dirt. I really don’t think it can be called a FASCAR concept. It doesn’t really seem to be a new concept. Maybe a step back. A lot of so called “crate” and “spec” motor classes around the country have been started for the same reason. They seem to have problems with costs now also. Over the years I’ve heard this type of class called a “B” class, sportsman, 358, crate, and more across the country in modifieds. Really not a new concept, just a new name and attempt to curb costs.
i understand the concern about the stock spindles and i know the complaint that its another expense but if guys will come run with the big tires let them run fabricated spindles and a good 5x5 hub.
spindles 350.00
used hubs 250.00
I totally agree the 8" Hoosier tires suck and do not last. I have a pretty small sample size of 3 races and 1 practice session, but it took me 8 new tires to do this. When the Sportsman Series was still alive and kickin, We were on this great 8" treaded tire made by Goodyear. I could get 4 50 lap races out of the right side tires, 6 out of the left rear, and 8 to 10 out of the left front. When I did put new 8"Goodyears on you would pick up 2 to 3 tenth’s, and slowly they would fall back off to the 3 or 4 race old pace. Now these “Fancy” new 8" Hoosiers, I ran 75 laps at Newsmyrna in 2 races and the RR, Rf, were junk, so I figured I would use them for practice tires and buy a new set for the next 50 lapper I was going to run. Great idea except I went to Citrus, and practiced at 15.1s and 15.2s. I bolted on 4 new 8"Hoosiers and went out and scuffed and ran a 14.47. Wow 6 to 7 tenths just bolting on these tires and everything that we changed to try to get the car close before we bolted on new tires had to be changed, because the car was now soooooooo over hooked it was bogging down the motor. The biggest reason people can’t afford to race is tires, It costs upwards of $500 for 4 new ones, and you can only run them once or twice and expect to be competitive, with somebody that can bolt them on all the time. Keep in mind the best pay for winning a regular weekly Sportsman race in the state is $450, that is the problem with racing right now.
here are my two cents, or four because i run both a sportsman and a e-mod. before the tire change to the 8 inch tread, i bought maybe a handfull of right side tires in 3 years. i was told the change would bring cars from other tracks and the tires would last at least 6 weeks of racing. It didn’t happen. The right side tires on my sportsman car are trash after 2 weeks, the lefts i keep running, but there junk. I thought they might lat longer on the e-mod because of the weight, but they fall off so much after 60 laps even though the tread is still good, the tire has no bite. Fascar, listen to the owners and drivers, we all want slicks. The 8 inch slick was cheaper then the treaded and last 4 weeks if you juice them plus the cars are more competive on the slicks. rustys idea or trying the full mods on 10 inch is a good idea. I think car count in sportsman, e-mod and full mod is down because of this 8 inch treaded tire. I know i don’t run as many races as i used to because of the tire prices and the need to have new tires to be competive. I know that if a fairly even car in the field has new tires, there probably going to get around me. Fascar, listen to your drivers and owners, not your tire sales people. thanks for letting me vent, mike pletka 23 sportsman/ e-mod
I bet FASCAR is surprised to hear so many of its racers calling for a mid-season tire change. The last time they changed tires in mid-year everyone fussed for many moons.
I don’t have a dog in this fight, but the quantity and the caliber of competitors who are asking for this to change ought to be generating some discussion at FASCAR HQ.
I used to have a dog in this hunt but when FASCAR started the e-mod deal I sold mine and I personally have nothing against the e-mods but that wasn’t what the class was built on. I also don’t have a problem with treaded tires just tired of building engines. I wish the class luck but would think a move to 10inch tires on the open cars might be the shot in the arm it needs.
I would love to see the supers with a wedge type body think that would be a great way to drawl new fans but I don’t think any of the tracks have the guts to do it.
the idea of a mid season tire change sucks but if the tires are not living up to what they were supposed to then the time to change is now. what happened to the days when there was no tire rule!!!
fascar has done a great job at increasing the purse this year and sticking with it but when you have to buy twice as many tires the increase in purse just goes to tires it doesn’t help with getting to the track.
i can understand fascars reluctance in even considering a tire change mid season with the way it has been received in the past ,and if takes untill next year to consider any kind of change so be it we will all have to suck it up because ultimately we racers have to follow the track and their rules if we want to race.
For a total of 10.75 average,so you meant 10-12 in 2009 not 2010 no biggie.
Looks like Chad and Jared ran really good in your car I guess the world will never know how they will do now.Like someone said earlier if you can win on slicks then you should be able to win on grooved tires.Just a secret I personally think the economy had more to do with the drop in car count then the switch in tires.
As for buying you tires HA!! Go begging somewhere else.Maybe the track can donate a set for you.Hmm?
I just hope that if they go back to slicks then all the airplane tire lovers don’t boycott cause they won’t buy slicks.Just a thought:aetsch013:
It would be great to see your car there on Friday, maybe you can call around to the E-mod owners for some used tires,HAHA!! (sorry I couldn’t help it).
The treaded tires are fine for the first 40 laps then they are junk… Thats the facts. They are very unforgiving on a light weight high powered race car. They work much better on a heavier lower powered car but they dont last…They suck…Hey fascar take a look at what other tracks are doing especially citrus and p.g…650 to win for 40 laps 1000 to win for 50 2 weeks ago 1200 to win at p.g. 14 cars on slicks…Wake up
I like the idea of treaded tires. Hoosier makes a couple different compunds. I believe the tracks are using the softer compound right now. Instead of going to a slick I would first try the harder treaded compunds. Not being able to “hook it up” in my opinion is better than just not having enough power. There are some pretty neat restrictor plates and several other ways to kill some power. Only one way to get more. $$$$
If you go to slicks a few things are going to happen… First, the guys with big motors will be much faster than those without, and they will be buying new tires every night. Second, Your “take off” solution is easily beat. Guys will buy new tires, grind around the depth holes and scuff them in. Theres no way to consistantly police it.
In my opinion, harder tires slow down the front runners, and speed up the back runners creating closer competion and placing a premium on chassis and driver.
When we went to these tires at my local tracks…I cannot speak for fascar tracks…we all figured we were gonna save money by tires lasting longer… this is what has resulted from the treaded tire …people have re cammed there motors to change the power curve = $$$ people like my self have restricted our motors with plates 1" holes= $$$ the faster cars are still buying tires each race with exceptions. We lost a half a second a lap and like i have stated in other posts they are very unforgiving… Yes i agree that it makes you a little better driver but i got into mods to haul ass in a full blown race car without the big dollars of SLM’s…Like I said P.G. is on slicks and I believe others will soon follow…one other point is that there are a few people in the mods that are (weapons ) they are way over there heads. these tires make them lethal…
