The fastest 1/2 mile in the world.
Uhhh…thought that was Eldora? According to their Web site:

“ALL TIME RECORD 12.707 sec WoO Sprints Craig Dollansky 4/13/02”

What’s the all-time track record at Volusia? I doubt it’s a 12-and-a-half second lap.

The all-time Late Model record at Eldora is a 14.922 by Jared Landers at this year’s Dream.

Oh - and better check your directions again, Don  If you go EAST on SR 40 from I-95, you’ll end up at Ormond Beach…

Nope its vsp…i was there this year during speedweeks when it happened. It was 12.4 or 12.5 or something ridiculous, they made reference to breaking eldoras record about 100 times.

Bubba, is there any place I could look that up? Was it a WoO show? Volusia’s Web site has NOTHING on track records at all.

Here’s what I found on WoO’s Results page:

2/11/11 - Volusia Speedway Park Qualifying: 1) 9-Joey Saldana 13.224
2/12/11 - Volusia Speedway Park Qualifying: 1) 83-Paul McMahan 13.273
2/13/11 - Volusia Speedway Park Qualifying: 1) 9-Joey Saldana 13.488

Don’t see anything in the 12’s…

I think that the racetrack wes braging about it being the fastest 1/2 mile so i guess they know what they are talking about? If im wrong ill own up.
one thing i know is that someone is going to set a new record in a boat this year. Beat that Jimmy !!
O and 11 miles west sounds good to me. 11 miles east i would get my feet wet.

Yes I remember hearing Volusia holds the new record for the fastest lap time, This is what I found while googling it.

“Earlier this year the record for a half mile speedway was set at the 2011 DIRTCar Nationals when perfect track conditions allowed Paul McMahan to lap the half-mile Volusia Speedway Park at 12.569 seconds at 143.209 mph”

You’re welcome.Gotta love google!.LOL!!!

Denise

The night got off to a fast start. During time trials, Paul McMahan and his #83 Roth/Kahne KPC shattered the track record by turning a lap in 12.569 seconds at 143.209 mph. With a tacky track, 27 of the 37 cars ended up qualifying under the previous record of 12.948 seconds which was set in 2007.
Found it; tough to find on the All-Stars’ Web site :\

I stand corrected, then

Now the reason that i started this tread was to try to get the race fans and the crash fans to the same show. this will help both sides and promote short track racing to a new fan. It also might get some of the crash haters a grin if they watch the whole show. One of you Jims might be in the boat race before its over.
I got a car and a extra boat.

im still looking for u were right

is .43 really a .5 mile track???

Jimmy. You were not really wrong, but what you posted has the wrong MPH. That 143.209 was the calculations for a true half mile at 12.569.

This is what I found on Google.

Volusia is not the fastest half mile. Volusia is not even 1/2 mile track. It is only .43 miles just like Eldora. Almost a full .10 mile shorter than the rest of the tracks that call their self’s a half mile. The fastest “true” dirt half mile was and still is Belleville High Banks. It is the quickest and the fastest.

If you do 4 laps around Belleville you will travel a little over 2 miles. If you do 4 laps around VSP you will only travel a little over 1 1/2. You would have to run 5 laps at VSP to go the same distance as 4 laps at Belleville. That’s a big difference I don’t care what anybody says.

VSP is the FASTERS .43 mile in the WORLD!!!

Bristol Motor Speedway (temporary track)
.53 miles @ 13.860, or 137.66 (average MPH)
Belleville High Banks
.51 miles @ 14.321, or 128.20 (average MPH)
Knoxville Raceway
.50 miles @ 14.407, or 124.94 (average MPH)
Volusia Raceway Park
.43 miles @ 12.569, or 123.16 (average MPH)
Eldora Speedway
.43 miles @ 12.707, or 121.94 (average MPH)
Williams Grove
.53 miles @ 16.140, or 118.22 (average MPH)

Hmmmmm…Wow im impresed. a mathamatition !!
I know i was wrong. its the fastest almost 1/2 mile.Da

‘Ey…I just copied and pasted off the All-Stars’ Web site. I’m not responsible for doing their math  LOL…

Hey, I just wanted to know what track really is the “World’s Fastest Half-mile”. Don said it was Volusia, I said Eldora, and someone else posted up the facts and the records. Eldora’s Web site says they’re still the “World’s Fastest”; Volusia’s just says “The South’s Fastest”. I just wanted to know which one was quicker/faster

Y’all have a good weekend!

It had noyhing to do with rules.
Now i think i dont know either who is the fastest 1/2 mile dirt track. I did rember when i was tools the record was broken but i didnt mesure either track and didnt see either timer in action. Just read the papper.
Soo if there is a real expert out there take over this… How about Brad H. that is what he doese for a living.
