Commentary

The Top Gun Sprints made their ninth visit of 2012 to Bubba Raceway Park on Friday October 12, 2012. The first night of The Florida State Sprint Car Championship there were 14 cars at the track to give fans two heat races and a 30 lap feature race.

Matt Kurtz in the 92 car had the pole with Danny Martin in the 82 on the outside for the start of the ELLIOTT?S TRAILERS and CARTS heat race. Matt took the lead on the start and the win. The 36 of Ken Laureno had the pole for the K&N FILTERS heat race, with Robbie Smith in the 6S car on the outside. On the start Robbie took the lead and never looked back and took the win.

The 83 of Mark Ruel Jr. had the pole for the start of the LUCAS OIL feature race event, with the 38 of Tony Agin alongside. On the start it was Mark getting the best start it didn?t last long as the 38T of Tyler Godwin went around Mark. The first caution was a red due to the 3A of AJ stopped against the wall in turn 3 and to be pick/up by 2 wreckers to remove to infield. Race was restarted with Tyler out front with a good lead till he hit a deep hole in turn 3 and was on the 2 left wheels till coming out turn 4 and saved from a crash. Then on lap 17 it was Colin Cabre in the 12 that found the same hole as Tyler had found but Colin wasn?t as lucky he flipped and brought out the red. On the restart it was still Tyler out front till lap 26 when the tie-rod broke on the front of Tyler?s car ended his night. That gave the lead to the 24 of Stephen Davralics, on lap 28 Shane Kreidler found the hole in 3 and flipped and brought out the last red. The restart it was still Stephen out front and took the win of the first night Florida State Sprint Car Championship, followed by Robbie Smith in the 6S car, Matt Kurtz in the 92 car, Mark Ruel Jr. in the 83 car and Tony Agin in the 38 car rounding out the top 5.

The staff and racers of the Top Gun Sprints would like to thank everyone for their support. Congratulations go out to Robbie Smith for winning the KSE Hardcharger Award. Congratulations go out to CJ Smith of Lutz, Fl. winner of the K&N certificates.
