Great news - keep it coming!

Does this mean Campi won’t be entered at all, or is this now a 2-car team?

the way Campi’s twitter reads, he isnt racing. would rather see van doorn in his own car. im sure he will be a contender.

FWIW…i find it funny with all this development driver stuff. Russell’s is a pay to play type ride. And now Campi has a multi-time cra champ… What happened to the die-hard racer who would never let anyone else in their car.Only way that would happen is if theu were hurt.

Gov’s Cup for ACR

One driver, Johnny Van Doorn

Was looking forward to watching Campi too. Good to see Johnny will be there. Like to see him bring Scott Hantz and Ross Kenseth with him.

Scott Hantz, I think would be a longshot. He doesn’t have the funding he used to since longtime car owner Dick Poe passed away in 2010. The family continued funding for another year, but this year has pulled out. Scott has been acting as driving coach/mentor for other racers this year.

Ross Kenseth on the other hand, relocated this year to NC, and would be a great addition to the Gov Cup. One of the best racers in the country I still have never seen race in person.

Kenzie Ruston and Cody Caughlin are nice additions. In fact, Cody will be bringing a Pro LM also. He has gotten much better in his 2 full years of racing. I expect him to be near the front in the PLM, but around mid-pack in the SLM.

If you have won plenty of races and championship. How is he ACR development driver. I think campi is scared of all the big boys and is scared to get smoked at nss.

Here is my guess, although I don’t know how true it may, or may not be: If Campi is running a Port City chassis, then there are very few people who how to set up that chassis better than VanDoorn. This could be more of a ‘development’ deal for Campi as a racer/team, than it is for VanDoorn as a driver.

It may be some give & take though. I don’t recall Johnny having ANY laps at NSS, and Campi’s are limited.

I don’t know what the deal is the driver development but I don’t think AC is worried about getting spanked. I was at Watermelon Speedway and watched him run pretty good against Kenseth, Reid, Pollard, and all of the other CRA drivers until he had something break. Not sticking up for him but he was running good against those guys, and he has always been good at New Smyrna.

Highly doubt that Campi is ‘scared’ of anything. Never met the kid, but have been watching him turn into a Top-5 threat wherever he goes. He does some traveling, runs respectable wherever he goes, and has become one of the top-10 SLM racers in the state.

I still think this is a move to better his own career.

Ditto Frasson, he has gotten faster and faster over the past couple of years. So I don’t think fear is a factor for him. AC races balls out every where he he goes and races for the win. Whoever is in that car will be in a good Port City Piece,

Heard that Terry Senneker, Jr. had entered…

Wayne Anderson will not be running the super race but said he is running the modifed race.
