150+ Entries and climbing...

For the first time since I have been posting World Series Pre-Entries online, we have surpassed the 150 mark. (previous high was 128 back in 2010)… Still more entries arriving every day!

Just moment ago Indiana’s Aaron Pierce became the first USAC Midget to turn laps at the high-banked half-mile!

So what was the lap time for a midget around there?

I will try to get a time next time he goes out… My honest first impression was holy ?!@#$ fast!

Cornering speeds must be blinding. Might need more ponies down the straight, but they will corner like hell.

Just spoke to Pierce. He said low 17’s today. Said come RaceDay expect to see 16.5-16.9. And YES. corner speeds are blinding. Especially on exit.

Aaron also has this going for him… he may be the only guy in the field with prior experience at NSS. Granted, it was a Super Late, but he does have quite a few laps there.

The one I want to see is Rico Abreu. He is, literally, a midget (little person) himself. And a damn good racer also. He has wins in both Midgets & Winged Sprints, and is in a Toyota Racing Development car for this show.

You are right Jerry but there is at least one other driver in the field with prior NSS experience… Riley Emmel who drove a Pro Late Model for Tim Russell in 2012 World Series. I too am looking forward to seeing Abreu run… along with Bobby East, Santos, Leffler… well pretty much all of them!

I’m looking forward to coming over there. Thanks for posting. I wonder though how many people know about all of the racers coming to NSS. Everyone who reads this and a couple of other sites, but how much of this made it into the Daytona newspaper and local radio stations/tv stations over there.
PROMOTE this event. It should be the most talked about event in the state of Florida. And might possibly be if anyone but diehard fans even knew it existed. I’ve seen no mention over here at all about a speedweek event at New Smyrna. No mention at all.
