Hey Jacque
Since Ancrdave’s answer meets the criteria of the question, does this mean that there are two sets of brothers that are possible correct answers ?

Yeah I guess so… I didn’t read Ancrdave’s expanation well enough where he said that Jim Rathmann won the Indy 500. So yeah, there are two different answers then.
I should have known that he wouldn’t be wrong. ![]()
The Unser brother’s both fit the criteria.
both have win the Indanapolis 500 and both have driven in Nascar
Bobby, drove in three NASCAR Grand National races from 1969 to 1973 with a best finish of fourth.
Al, competed in the 1968 Daytona 500 and four other NASCAR Winston Cup & Grand National races, all held on road courses with a best finish of fourth (twice).
So, you are thinking of Joe and Troy Ruttman… Troy Ruttman won the Indianapolis 500 in 1952, at the age of 22 years and 80 days and is, so far, the youngest winner of the race.
Joe Ruttman ran 255 NASCAR Cup races but never won, scoring 60 top-tens… He did win a BGN race at Dover in 1982…

Yeah, that was the answer that I was looking for… but the Rathmann brothers and the Unser brothers are correct too. I guess I need to do a little more research myself before I ask these questions. I’m a moron… …duh
Don’t be so hard on yourself, you are obviously an intelligent man.
I’m pretty sure there is only one answer to this one…
Which driver was first to earn a pole position driving a Cadillac for a NASCAR Cup race. What year and at which track?
Gober Sosebee - 6/10/51 - Columbus (GA) Speedway
Yep… Right again
Well… so far you guys have guessed i think maybe every question so far. I think maybe the streak has come to an end… We’ll see…
Who was the first relief driver in NASCAR Cup racing history? And who did this relief driver replace? Good Luck with this one!
In the very first race held at Charlotte (NC) Speedway on 6/19/49, Bob Flock relief drove for Sara Christian. Flock’s car blew up on lap 38 and he took over Christian’s car until it overheated just past halfway…
Your right again… the streak continues. I thought I might have had you on that one. ![]()
Just a quick photo here… Taken in the garage prior to the 1978 Southern 500 at Darlington…
Collectively, these three drivers started 688 NASCAR Cup races and never scored a victory but they were great characters who made NASCAR what it was in their day…
Frank Warren, Joe Frasson and Dick May…

Really enjoy seeing some of the old school NASCAR pictures… keep em comin’
Here’s a couple more…
1 - When Junior Johnson won his first race as a car owner, who was the driver and what year was it?
2 - Who was the first stock car driver to be pictured on the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine and what year was it?
For some reason, I’m thinking Fred Lorenzen in '65. That was the year he became the first driver to win over $100,000 in a season.

Junior Johnson himself, 1965 Daytona qualifier #2

You are actually right on both of them… Junior did win some races when he drove his own car… but… who was the first driver to win a race in Junior’s car who was actually hired by Junior to drive the car? :auto003:
April 16, 1967 - Gwyn Staley 400 at North Wilkesboro Speedway - Darel Dieringer… He led all 400 laps!
Yes it was … and yes he did! ![]()
