Big Metric Or Tube Clips

Open53 If You Need A Clip I Have Plenty I Will Sell You One If You Cant Find Any

Thank you sir

I am still weighing options But will keep you in mind. Where’s your shop ?

A stroll through the pits at the upcoming World Series at NSS might be a fun (and informative) little outing…

OR

The tracks and tech men could simply post or implement a plan/rules and stick to it. I wonder if the NSS schematic of the allowable front clip has been posted ?

Nope, they have a modified race in approximately 3 weeks, and it still is not up

Here are the rules guys. We did not do a diagram because Ricky included the measurements in the rules. I sent them to our webmaster last Friday but they’re not posted yet. If there are any questions please call Ricky. Thanks!

Thanks Kim,
Just read your rules and they are very clear Thank you again

Thank you

Thanks Kim, by the way …wanted to tell you that NSS is lucky to have you. I appreciate what you do and how you keep us informed.

Ricky,

I really like the shock rule…others may hate it but i think its what our class needs. A couple questions

  1. Stock lowers or OEM lowers means no fords…correct?
  2. Why allow the motor to be 1" lower at NSS than anywhere else?
  3. Why allow your cars to be 4" wider than anywhere else ?

I am simply curious not trying to dig…

A related question may be…“Why do the West Coast rules require the front track width to be 4” narrower and the motor to be 1" higher?"

We need one set of rules

Just read the rules for NSS and the measurements given are for a Camaro 17" at the front and 27" at the rear holes. The Impala is wider so that makes by the rule of plus or minus a 1/4" all others would be illegal. These measurements are the same as the Port City Fab clip or Camaro / Nova front geometry.

I can not believe that Ricky did not know what they did with these rules. It looks like the AMF fab clip is what the rules were written for. Locking out all others trying to use the Impala geometry.

We need one set of rules or no Fab clips. I hope the other track owners read this post and get this straightened out.

The measurement should be 18" at the hole in frame at front and 28 1/2" at the rear holes, this will put these point were the impala lower points are.

Need to stop playing games with this rule.

I can’t believe this is even an argument. no one is locked out.

A clip is approved the majority doesn’t have and everyone is losing their minds over it.

But i will agree, the old IMCA rules including ENGINE CLAIM should have stayed in place for mods.

Benny,

Perhaps it is an issue, but I do not think that the real issue is “a clip that the majority don’t have”, but rather:

>Lack of clarity regarding just what the rules are at each track (NSS has now named theirs with hard measurments), and,

>Dissimilar rules at each track. Like variances in tires, this will on the one hand perhaps provide “guaranteed” cars at each track, but on the other will discourage racers from running at another track. This makes it difficult to have a big field for big races. Perhaps they will add weight where appropriate to compensate–but, imo, that is never as good as everyone’s stuff meeting the same rules.

ps–would agree that something needs to be done about underhood costs, but one thing at a time…

Modowner

I took the same measurements and you are correct…I have a port city camaro tube clip sitting in my shop…i actually pulled the measurements against my stock clip a few days ago but didnt want to continue being the bad guy…thanks for sharing. If you seen the previous posts he was promoting a certain clip.

Although i contacted 3 of the tracks and also spoke to Rick Day briefly we still need to get under control.

I have the oppurtunity to purchase a fab clip right now but decided to go with good ole stock clip…the way the class was intended and no dam gray areas.

Rules…

Kim

Whats the chances of getting Ricky to answer the questions from my previous posts about the NSS rule differences?

Doug,

If you do not mind sharing, which stock clip?

Whatever the choice, were you forced to choose to run at only some of the venues?

If it is something you wish to keep to yourself, I understand.

No problem

I ended up purchasing a good old GM metric clip off a station wagon…Have to locate upper mounts, cut out spring buckets, plate and weld jacking bolt nuts and cut and plate cross member…all steering will be impala style with stock center and idler arm…gonna buy a stock gearbox too…It will be legal anywhere in the country. No B.S.

Kim

Kim can we bring the Impala fab clip car to your track?

Further, the Impala clip, I think, is at a disadvantage, geometry wise.

Along with track width and engine placement.

Will there be a weight break (or etc) to provide an incentive for Showtime cars to pull over to New Smyrna for large (or regular) events?
