Thank you Sir…for taking the time. I know that the Fords have been ran for many years. lefthander used to use them on their stock clips.
As you are aware its using them with the narrowed fab clips thats causing the issue. Some of the other tracks are finally banning them. But anyway its your rules and I appreciate you as a tech man.
Further, the Impala clip, I think, is at a disadvantage, geometry wise.
Along with track width and engine placement.
Will there be a weight break (or etc) to provide an incentive for Showtime cars to pull over to New Smyrna for large (or regular) events?
I just recieved my new front end geometry software. We are going to work real hard to see what we can do with the stock clips…roll center, jacking weights, moment of center and anti/pro dive. Cant forget bump and center of gravity. It will also let us simulate other geometry by simply changing measurements. Gotta be educated ! work hard ! and not whine…lol
I hope for you and your team it isnt an issue…thats why i started this thread. I know everyone doesnt come on here and most that do dont post…But you should look at Rickys measurements and ensure you have whats he is asking for. I would probably call him.I dont know if its even an issue in your class. I imagine he can help
Just read the rules for NSS and the measurements given are for a Camaro 17" at the front and 27" at the rear holes. The Impala is wider so that makes by the rule of plus or minus a 1/4" all others would be illegal. These measurements are the same as the Port City Fab clip or Camaro / Nova front geometry.
I can not believe that Ricky did not know what they did with these rules. It looks like the AMF fab clip is what the rules were written for. Locking out all others trying to use the Impala geometry.
We need one set of rules or no Fab clips. I hope the other track owners read this post and get this straightened out.
The measurement should be 18" at the hole in frame at front and 28 1/2" at the rear holes, this will put these point were the impala lower points are.
Need to stop playing games with this rule.
You are dead on with this statement. i was told and its just heresay that ricky is the Techman at A dale and Desoto for the 6 pack series. I sure hope that he leaves his NSS rules on the other coast. I measured my bone stock clip and the front lower mount holes are indeed 18"
Kim will not be answering tech questions. Track questions feel free to contact her at speedway. Tech questions contact me number is on website. If your referring to the car Jimmy Cope built contact him for we have spoke. As far as this topic I’m over it. Have a good day
Ricky why did you not just answer the question, you put it back on Cope. Just answer the question that why it was asked of Kim. Real simple is it legal at NSS.
We have a 2008 Ellis chassis, chevelle front clip and just did all measurement to find roll center, our clip is 17" front and 27" rear and front bottom holes are 3 1/2" above cross member. I still don’t see why fab clips are being allowed, but if they are , they should meet stock clip measurements, be it camaro, chevelle, or impala and add 100# additional weight to front of car. Just saying. Ricky don’t make it so difficult
I wasn’t going to say anything else about this topic but it needs said. Look at Desoto’s rules. It has stock clip dimensions. The dimensions on the 77 and 78 and up dimensions are slightly different. The 1964- 67 Chevelle dimensions are also different.( Ellis used these) They will all accept ford lower control arms.
Lefthander chassis was using one ford lower and off set rims to keep within the width rule. The problem is that people are using late model fab clips with adjustable lower mounting points and both ford lowers. And Mr. Brooks knows why and was allowing it. Hell all the tracks were allowing it because no one knew better except the people doing it.
Do some research…Look at the new Port city modified…Stock clip
look at the left hander modified…stock clip. They will sell you a fabricated clip but dam sure aren’t using them on their brand new modifieds???
I believe the reason that I could not purchase a new stock clip from either of them is that the amount of work to prepare one is a lot of work…trust me I am doing that now and will share the pictures later.
Lets put an end to all this crap…no ford lowers on mods, no adjustable lowers, one legal track width and if you simply must run a fabricated clip go to the ones that are being built to the stock clip dimensions like Johnson chassis. And add weight
We are not late models and shouldn’t be allowed 1000 dollar a piece shocks either. The IMCA modified was created for a man with a budget to race a real racecar. If you have the money to spend then get yourself a late model
Let me also say that I love innovative thinking but there is a fine line between bending or manipulating the rules.
Finally…All tracks should make a jig or a tool to measure the pickup points like on the Johnson website.
What is the width rule here in Fla.? We are 78" outside to outside and we are running the 8" American Racer tires. Stock front clips, stock bottom arms and 4 " frame heights. Was going to have son bring it down, but set up on bumps and got a Bert trans which I guess is not allowed
