What is the deal with sidecar?

The beauty of a restless night is the odd things that are on TV at 3 in the morning. Today it was British sidecar racing: a real spectacle for the fans while still being a legit, high speed race.

Are these things raced in the US? I see that Canada has a club for sidecar. Wouldn’t it be cool to see them on a “roval” in Florida? Make something out of a short track oval, mix in some figure 8 “X”, maybe some pit road, add a little access road for spice, etc…

Are these faster than regular bikes? They are much heavier and have a greater aero load, but they also have more stability in the corners. Anyone know? I suspect a two wheeler is quicker overall.

Note: also on at 3 am is “Rugby”. which looks like the dumbest sport on the planet.

fun rugby fact!

–an oxymoron if there ever was one…

>>As rugby balls and footballs were [initially] made from pigs’ bladders and they had to be blown up by breath alone, it was possible to become ill if blowing up a diseased bladder, and the wife of Richard Lindon, who made balls for Rugby School in the 19th Century, died after breathing in the air from too many bad bladders.

The moral of the story? Stock Car Tars & their expense don’t look so bad after all, do they?
