The other shoe drops.And so with one hack of a pipeline this weekend’s scheduled Friday night race at 4-11 Speedway and Saturdays Talladega Short Track event by the Lucas Oil Late Model Series has been cancelled.The Series announced today there will be no make up date.
I’ve soaked in bits and pieces of the inner workings between touring series and tracks, I’m sure others could add much more. Assuming the race tracks made the decision to cancel, probably at a loss to their deposit, which they figured was an easier financial hit than a slim crowd and a fat payment to the Lucas Oil Series. As of today, the fuel situation is pretty bad in North Georgia and North Alabama, definitely bad enough to deter fans who were planning on driving from an hour or 2 away. Even have had a few local racers stopping into the warehouse for some parts and gear, they are planning on racing closer to home or basing their Saturday night plans on whether or not fuel is found for the hauler.
