post a pole

No Bill, i’m not on drugs. You know, the more i think about it, the more i’m sure you’re on the right track ( intended pun ) over there at OSW. What you’re proposing has always worked in the past over there. The only thing lacking has been finding just the right night to race, and the crowds and the racers will likely be back.
Please do keep posting so we know what’s happening over there.

Would it be so wrong to run on Saturday night? NSS seems to run 4 classes a night (which to me is perfect), so just run 3 or 4 different classes. The mods they dropped, plus trucks, and a solid v8 class like montes

Get out from NSS orbit and do a little partnership/communication with auburndale. Run Saturday but keep in mind what auburndale is up to on a given Saturday night.

We do not wish to run same night as NSS as we will lose Sportsman Mods And Super Stocks. Also no Mini Stock Drivers have showed interest ab well as Bombers

Hey Bill, just a little friendly input, when Orlando still ran the Friday night show it was a bit of a pain to get to. With not leaving work until 5 it was hard to get to the track, between the traffic on the highway and Colonial. The only choice was to leave work early or take the day off.

There is nothing wrong with running Saturday as was mentioned above, just do a little research and find out what classes are running at Auburndale and Desoto. The SPATS series would probably speak to you about coming there to race being as that they are only at 3PS right now.

You say that no mini stocks and bombers have shown interest, have you reached out to them, Showtime has a bunch of them and from what I remember Desoto has a handful. It might be time to take a page from Bobby Diehl, he reaches out to the drivers and tries to get them to come out.

How come a Saturday afternoon show would not work? This way drivers could come to your track and race then they would have enough time to head to NSS if their class was running to make it a double header? I do not think that any track has ever ran a Saturday afternoon show?

Bill, I don’t mean to be a jerk. For one I’m a panhandle guy and I won’t be at the track anyway. But the big motor mod class isn’t whAt would grow at Orlando right? I’ve read the crate mod guys need somewhere to run that is less than half a mile. As for super street I don’t know what that is exactly, but there has got to be a lot of smaller v8 race cars that don’t want to get out run at NSS by the big dollar v8 cars. Just my 2 cents

I am now missing the wisdom of Phil Jacques.

Oldfool must have wore him down mentally.

Would I go to a Thursday night show? Sure, but it needs to start on time, and not drag on all night since I (and probably everyone else) need to go to work the next day.

If you had a Thursday night show starting at 7:00, with three classes, with a modified headline class with a double digit car count of modifieds, I would be there every time.

ok here it is bottom line osw doesn’t have a choice Fridays night is going to have to work. to many tracks are running on Saturday night a blind man could see that . New Smyrna is a Nascar track OSW is the least of their worries they are going to do their racing on Saturday night . Sunday would be to hot and you couldn’t run that late people have to work on Monday and kids have homework and school. and anybody who raced other tracks on Saturday night would be home fixing there cars or just relaxing with there family . someone mention Wednesday or Thursday well same problem people work kids and school . years ago when Rusty Marcus ran the track on a Friday night if you didn’t get there early the pits were so packed you had to park out back in the grass where there was no lights. so I am tired of hearing it never worked yes it did over a hundred cars in the pits . Rusty could tell you but he left he got fed up all the negative comments . as far the purse goes OSW copy new Smyrna purse payout its on there website and tires run the same as everybody else its that easy . good grief people . ok tell me how wrong I am about everything fire away .

OSW Pole

I still would like to here from Mini Stock and Bomber Drivers who would run Friday Night:ernaehrung004:

I used to race orlando quite frequently when I was racing. And before that we’d go many Friday nights. I remember us having nice fields of cars in all divisions. Even supers. And there were MANY orlando only cars. I’d say 75-80% only raced orlando. So saying Friday won’t work is bs. And if you start the show @8 like it used to. People would have time to get there. There is WAY TO MANY TRACKS ON SATURDAY. Ummmm all of them. So if you went and ran SPORTSMAN AND E MODS as your weekly headliners, super stocks , bomber and minis as supporting division. Then run Big Motor mods , trucks, supers or pro late once a month each for 50 lap. Then on your 4 th week have a demo derby or something like that . Each week have minis, Superstock or bombers off one night and run sportsman and e mod 3 outta 4 weeks and then one of your special features. So you’d have 5 classes a night. Run same tire as NSB and there you go.

EZ,

Phil says he will come back just as soon as you agree with him.

The question is, would that be fiction, fact or possibly a little bit of both?

OSW Pole

when track starts up all Divisions will run same tire and rules as NSS:anim_pound:

Bill,

Is the Hart family directly involved in this effort?

Osw

Not that know of and I will not recomend any race on Saturday and inter :anim_pound:fear with their Race Program, to many of my friends are running there for points

Nor would I suggest running on Saturdays.

They successfully ran the place for years, I was just hopeful.

If you open, I know of 6/7 that will be there every week. Including myself. Most of NSS Bomber class is OSW castaways.

Just schedule something.

If it was so successful on Friday nights, then why did it close down?

Ex,

Note that there are tracks that have run on Saturday nights that are currently struggling.

Seems to me, as the saying goes, if you want to make a small fortune in racing…start out with a large one.

In the case of promoting, more accurately you need to start out with a large fortune, do all the right things, and hope for the best, as there are no guarantees.

That is why more folks with a large fortune are not promoters.

But, to answer your question, you need to have the ability to pay a significant purse to get good cars, and enough of them.

You also need the ability to advertise the events, radio, flyers, promotions at shopping centers, all that.

If you don’t, things slowly die on the vine, even if they were in pretty fair shape to begin with.

And one thing for sure, if Friday did not work, switching to a weeknight will be even more problematic.

First…the large fortune…

This is pathetic. Wanting to resurrect the track with the same business plan that killed it.

I agree with Phil Jacques, Florida don’t get it. It’s a waste of time and energy to discuss racing with some of you crackers. I’m moving to the north. LOL !

Take Massengalbee with you.

Say hi to Phil for us.

Y’all come back now, y’heah?
