post a pole

ps–To be clear, it was not Fridays, it was not the classes–they ran late models & mods for years, in the end it was less and less of an investment by those in charge–and the downward spiral that almost always occurs with cars and then spectators leaving until there is no one there and the lights are shut off.

If that is going to be “the same old business plan” you would be correct.

Well, To me it looks like the textbook definition of insanity, doing the same things over and over and expecting different results.

When the FUPS series was running we ran those races, there was good turn outs in both the pits and stands, they would also run the legends cars, and the other classes, there were some good car counts.

I see that Bill said that he will not run Saturdays because he does not want to interfere with NSS and with his friends running there for points. This is the wrong way to start running a track. Unless you are directly involved with NSS in a marketing effort or have some type of support agreement with car counts, Orlando needs to be their own entity and start making a name for themselves.

Bill, as I asked before, have you contacted the SPATS or Fastruck series to bring them in? What about the e-mods? Sportsman? There are cars out there but you have to be aggressive to get them out to the track, call them by phone.

As I stated before, in my opinion during the week or friday nights shows are hard to run there both for the fans and the racers, if you get off work at 5:00pm how much time does that really leave to get the car to the track, get unloaded, set up and ready, maybe get a few practice laps or shake down a new setup? What about the fans that have to run home, change their clothes, get the kids fed and then load them up and head down to the track?

I am not saying that it cannot work, but it is hard to do. What may have worked a few years ago does not necessarily mean that it will work today.

I still like the idea of running saturday afternoon, you could mirror NSS schedule so cars could run a double header if they choose, you are already going to copy NSS rules so a shock and gear change and haul it down the road!

Well, just a suggestion, I hope that it works out for you.

Post pole

To everyone that is on this Saturday crap give it up you can’t run on sat with five other tracks on sat you are not going to get cars from the other tracks if that there home town track osw is my home track I don’t want to go to nss I don’t have the backing to be a top mod there so as long as I can recall it has been Friday so I fell to go to Friday if track promoter will step up and do the write thing

Um, you don’t need cars from other tracks. Look at the weekly results from any track in Florida and you will clearly see almost all cars are local to that track. Traveling series is the exception.

OSW and NSS would need to work together because they are 50 miles apart.

If the tracks can’t work together. It’s going to hurt both tracks. It is essential to work together. Otherwise, it’s a pissing match and nobody wins.

Re: Working together?

C’mon. If Bithlo comes back, it is a threat to NSS.

If Citrus goes away it is good for St Pete.

It is the way things work, or at least at this point…

The only reason to “work together” is if it is mutually beneficial.

The Hart family used to run Bithlo. Clearly they decided that whatever cars came from Bithlo would come anyway, they don’t need OSW for car count.

On the other hand, IF someone has the jack and the energy to re-open OSW, they darn sure should be polite to NSS and hope they can coax a few cars their way on Fridays, maybe a few more from Auburdale, and a few more from Citrus.

Eventually–if they pay well and consistently, some cars will be built that have Bithlo as their “home track”.

Meanwhile, will paraphrase something my old Daddy told me once. “Hope everyone works together in one hand, defecate in the other, and let me know which one fills up first!”.

No offense to anybody that is working on putting together anything resembling a oval track race at Orlando, but Bill are you in charge of anything, or are you just getting the ball rolling with information for the potential people in charge? I will be ready to help support the track if they will put out a schedule, post the guaranteed purse " not dependent on car count", and bring in a tech team to keep the competition even. Night of the week doesn’t matter too me, think Friday would be best, but who really knows.

Just wondering, what difference does it make?

I was thinking the same thing…

You read it here folks, Bill Chapman is not interested in your views. Especially if you’re only spectators. I guess spectators will get whatever Bill decides to give them and keep quiet about it.
I can save you some trouble and expense Bill. You’re proposing exactly the same program that caused OSW to close it’s doors a number of times over the past few years. The " we know what works and we don’t need input from the racers or the fans" is right out of the official playbook for that track. So if that’s all you’ve got, don’t bother because it won’t survive.
Listen to suggestions, implement them, and the track might survive.

“I will be ready to help support the track if they will put out a schedule, [and] post the guaranteed purse…”–Patrick Thomas

That guy has cranked a wheel or two. What he said. Otherwise it is an exercise in academia (!).

ps–one has to make certain they are not going from the frying pan to the fire…

Bill,

The answers to your questions are yes, yes, and yes.

Hope that qualifying me to add my opinions.

I really did not see anyone bashing OSW, all I saw was some comments on the past operations and some suggestions were offered to possibly improve things in the future if the track ever does open back up.

Bill, your comment to UREZ2PASS, really was uncalled for, it makes it sound like well if you have not raced here we do not want to hear from you… not a good way to start building OSW’s fan base. Also, do not tell people to get over themselves for offering suggestions that you asked for, it reminds me of a track over in Inverness.

What’s ironic is Bill has never turned a wheel at OSW. He’s a crew member from a car that raced years ago. He spoke to “somebody” on the phone and has now placed “false hope” in the minds of us that actually own race cars and want to race OSW again.

Bill is helping keep the track alive, well, it’s memory.

Be upfront with people Bill.

anyone have popcorn??

Here you go Kat
